So why did Gomez not start today instead of the inept Johnson?
Roland was trying to protect his most prized asset. Duchatelet can't afford Joe to get injured in the last game and have the Summer Auction cancelled. ( i want to be wrong? i don't think i will be)
Re Gomez. This comes from as close to the horse's mouth as is possible.
We accept he is going and trying to get the best deal. Top four club. 8-10 million.
Loaned back for a year.
If we're all honest it's the best we could hope for. If we didn't have the belgian half billionaire nut at the helm we'd be looking at much less than half that
I know I have said this before, but I think that any fee should be up near £15mil. The prem clubs have shed loads of money and the clubs mentioned have more than the rest.

Still cheap at that price.
This. If he turns out as good as we think there will still be admirers in a year or two. A centre half does seem to have more lengivity in the game than say a striker or midfielder. Keep him Roland and at least double your money!

17 year old defenders don't go for that much.
If he was a striker maybe.
Luke Shaw cost 30 million when he was 18. If we left Joe Gomez go for less than 12 million this summer, Someone needs shooting.

Good to hear! He plays in our shirt AND any fee >£6m puts our club into profit for the first time since Curbs was at the helm! Meanwhile Millwall had a squad average age 28, lose £10m and get relegated!
We are now playing with some decent players aged 22-24 and some are in the shop window for sure / some will want to step up. But here's the thing:
Both Liege and CAFC signed ten players each last summer. Perhaps half hit the ground running? Whoever goes can be replaced, gaps and weaknesses can be covered. We can step up again for next season and it sounds like we do it with Gomez in the side

He was a Premier League player though, Gomez hasn't had a full season in any league yet.
I like what Luzon had to say in the press conference. Charlton / Network Head Coaches don't always / rarely get what they want though. Particularly when they make their feelings known in press conferences.

That's why i said 18 million less than Shaw.
If Man city, Arsenal, Chelsea are interested, the days of giving players away for less than their worth : Paul Walsh,Paul Elliott, Gordon Watson And Robert Lee to name just 4 have surely gone. Think of a figure 8 million, add 50% =12 Million add on's 30 x1st team games =5 million 25% of any future transfer fee=10 million ? Full England Cap=5 million. 12 million up front and a possible 20 million later. grand total 32 mill.
If the dirty lucre of the Russian money(buying state companies for a 20th of there value) or the middle east money with their shocking human rights record, are in this auction then Let's hold out for the big bucks. Or better still keep Joe for one more season ?
You know Roland won't take this chance in case Gomez gets injured.
this close season will really show what ambition RD has for our club. A year ago it was very different as we did not have a coach with experince of our players or the Championship. With GL we have a man well known to the owner who should know about our players, be they 1st team, reserves or under 18s, and knows about the challenge of the Championship.
RD has 3 options: 1. Sell the best players and make an immediate profit, bring on the youngsters and hope to remain a Championship club. 2. Sell the best players and reinvest in CAFC with players and rebuiling Sparrows Lane to try for top 6 and eventually top 2. 3. Keep the best players and invest in more good players to try for the PL

But, if he has to go, then 8-10 million should have RD rubbing his hands and a season's loan would ease the pain for his fans.
Just remember last season's POTY, young Joe and think long & hard.
Wish you well.

Clubs will be having a look but can't see it being a bidding war in the summer

An interesting 3 months me thinks.
