Sasa might have only saved one penalty in a shootout, but what a one to choose!

Bloody hell. Sam Bartram was pretty bloody good when facing pens. Only 28 out of 52 scored? That's some going.

Ben Hamer definitely saved at least 2 - in the crucial 1-0 win over Leeds which everyone will remember, and in the 4-0 win over Carlisle:

Mooney missed a penalty in a cup game a few years ago when he hit the crossbar

Not being picky but didn't Graham Tutt save a pen at The Valley against Plymouth on a Friday night?

Who was the goalie when we played Cambridge away, in the cup, and that game went to pens. We lost...maybe about 1992?

Andy Woodward, who later became our goal keeping coach, was in goal for the Oxford Utd for the cup match that went to a penalty shoot out

It does show the marked increase in penalties against us when we have been in the top flight.

Think that must be the season after. It was around December 1975 just after we lost 1.5
at home to Luton. Think we beat Plymouth 2.0 and Tutty saved a pen.

He never got near a penalty as far as I can remember. Usually, you have some
confidence in your keeper when facing pens but with Salmon you just knew
the ball would end up in the net.

Also how can we forget Scott Carson saving Frank Lampards penalty at Stamford Bridge in 2006. (JFH telling him which way to dive).

Hardly a save, he was lying down on the goal line and Michael Gray passed it to him.

Yes I remember it too. Bit of a worldy - high flying dive towards top corner, its memory not at all embellished by 40 years having passed in the meantime.

Salmon always struck me as a bit of an unusual goalie in that he didn't have much inclination/ability to make diving saves. Just seem to rely on standing in the right place. This tactic proved fairly useless for penalties - and indeed more generally, come to think of it.
