I'd guess a few of you are muttering about another RIP for someone you've never heard of, like that matters.

Only you have, even if you didnt know his name. If you are are old enough to remember the 1974 world cup, Zaire and that free kick then you know who I mean.

He died yesterday aged 66 after a long illness.

I think he thought it was his free kick. Remember Eric Morecambe being a guest on one TV channel and being in fits of laughter when he giving his views on the game.

Aah! One of the great World Cup moments.
Zaire had never qualified for a World Cup - I always believed the tension, the excitement and the occasion got to him and he momentarily lost it.
