Twists and turns

edited April 2007 in General Charlton
There are still a lot of dodgy sphincters (cracking word) down at the bottom (...excuse the pun). Pardew made a perceptive statement post match essentially suggesting that we have nothng to lose and that we may be able to play without a body full of adrenaline and nervous energy.

Thankfully M'Boro still need a victory vs Wigan next week to make sure they are safe though they do still have Fulham to play. Bolton still needs points for Europe so will push WHU all the way. We must hope that Arsenal beat Fulham today So the twist is... Wigan Lose, WHU lose, Fulham lose to L'pool and we beat Tottenham on the Monday, then we will really see who has the bottle on the final day

C'mon you reds it a'int over yet

It's possible, but we haven't won any of our last five games and now look likely to need to win two very difficult ones in a row.

Boro are safe and just the sort of side you'd want to be playing at the moment, which is good news for Wigan and Fulham.

...but wouldn't it just be typical Charlton to screw-up the "easy" games and then turn over Spurs?

    Fulham 35 36 -19 35
    Wigan 36 35 -22 35
    West Ham 36 35 -27 31
    Charlton 36 33 -24 32
    Watford 36 24 -32 26

    It's not going to happen.

At the moment its not, but if Fulham concede a few today and lose, then lose again next week before we play Spurs, the situation will be if we beat Spurs, we go above Fulham.

And then it will look very different. Spurs blow hot and cold, anything can happen. But the fact most of us seem resigned to the negative inevitable, probably won't help the cause.

It will go down to us needing something from the Liverpool game.

I have said it so many times now. Most people had us relegated at reading away a couple of months ago. So all this excitement is a bonus. I know results like yesterdays are never enjoyable. But the season as a whole has been very exciting.

The fans have all been cracking this season and we need to keep that going. We need to take that into next season.

The money that we will lose if we go down will be a kick in the nuts to say the least. But think about the colossal money we will get for prize money for winning the championship next season and then the TV money in the prem on our way back up!
