The best figures ever for a pace bowler in a Ashes test.
Only Jim Laker when he took 10 and 9 wickets in the same
match back in 1956 at Old Trafford has any bowler surpassed that.

Cook and Lyth have just equalled the highest partnership of the match:
    13

From what I hear from blowers Lyth is looking a lot more confident. Hopefully we can surpass the Aussies with our first partnership.

Awaits comment from @LenGlover advising that bowling a team out for 60, before lunch is dangerous and giving us the low down on how we can still loose from here. ;-)

Get your Australian Batsman name by adding 'b Broad' at the end of your surname!
  • Clarke said that he wanted his team to bowl this morning. He obviously instructed his batsmen to make sure they did.

The Sydney Morning Herald's live feed makes for entertaining reading

I loved this on that feed:
    Vote now

    It's a tight race.
Poll: Who will be named man of the match in the fourth Ashes Test?

    Stuart Broad
    Chris Broad's son
    S.Broad

any idea if Broad's 8/15 is a record ?? The 10 best test bowling figures only show 2 10 fer's and the rest are 9's, and a lot of those are for 50 or 60 runs or more.

cant see many people taking 8 wickets for less than 15 runs............

Broad's figures are the best for a seamer in Ashes history.

    From the BBC Feed...

Cheapest eight-wicket hauls in Test cricket:

    8-7: G Lohmann, England v SA, 1896
    8-11: J Briggs, England v SA, 1889
    8-15: S Broad, England v Aus, 2015
    8-24: G McGrath, Aus v Pak, 2004

Not one for making excuses, but I thought the Phillip Hughes tragedy would really spur the ozzies on against us this year...... I think the reality of the terrible loss of their teammate has had the opposite effect, especially on Clarke.

I very seriously doubt that. It didn't effect them at Lords.

It's more to do with an ageing team, not the best selection, poor batting technique and lack of application.

I wonder what odds a bookies would have given at 11 o'clock (knowing that aus were batting first) that by 2:15 on first day Lyth would be second top scoring in the game!.

Lyth has to be dropped. He'll get the last test if we win but I have a feeling Hales will get his chance before long.

Old team with a horrific lack of experience in playing in England. That's why Rogers is quality in England because he's played here a lot of his career.

    69-2

Cook just put one through Smith & Clarke in the slips. Smith dived in front of Clarke and parried it to safety. Well played lads.
