9-1 won't happen.0

The best figures ever for a pace bowler in a Ashes test.
Only Jim Laker when he took 10 and 9 wickets in the same
match back in 1956 at Old Trafford has any bowler surpassed that.0 -
Cook and Lyth have just equalled the highest partnership of the match:
133 -
I've just booked tomorrow off work so I can at least watch day 2.0
-
From what I hear from blowers Lyth is looking a lot more confident. Hopefully we can surpass the Aussies with our first partnership.1
-
The 1st time extras have been top scorer in an Ashes test, 14

Awaits comment from @LenGlover advising that bowling a team out for 60, before lunch is dangerous and giving us the low down on how we can still loose from here. ;-)3

Get your Australian Batsman name by adding 'b Broad' at the end of your surname!8
-
Clarke said that he wanted his team to bowl this morning. He obviously instructed his batsmen to make sure they did.4

any idea if Broad's 8/15 is a record ?? The 10 best test bowling figures only show 2 10 fer's and the rest are 9's, and a lot of those are for 50 or 60 runs or more.
cant see many people taking 8 wickets for less than 15 runs............0 -
Complete and utter domination.
Best session ever.0 -

Edit - oops - sorry to repeat Guiness' post a few minutes earlier.
Think England will just edge this one.
Loving the new look England.
It has to be down to the coaches doesnt it?

I very seriously doubt that. It didn't effect them at Lords.carly burn said:Not one for making excuses, but I thought the Phillip Hughes tragedy would really spur the ozzies on against us this year...... I think the reality of the terrible loss of their teammate has had the opposite effect, especially on Clarke.
It's more to do with an ageing team, not the best selection, poor batting technique and lack of application.1 -
I wonder what odds a bookies would have given at 11 o'clock (knowing that aus were batting first) that by 2:15 on first day Lyth would be second top scoring in the game!.0

Any bids for my tickets for day 4?3

Lyth has to be dropped. He'll get the last test if we win but I have a feeling Hales will get his chance before long.0

44-2 now.
Lyth c Nevill b Starc 14
Cook not out 26
Bell lbw Starc 1
Root not out 0

Good to see Bell out-score three of the top order Aussie batsmen!2

Old team with a horrific lack of experience in playing in England. That's why Rogers is quality in England because he's played here a lot of his career.Covered End said:

FFS Cook where's the declaration?1
-
69-2
Cook just put one through Smith & Clarke in the slips. Smith dived in front of Clarke and parried it to safety. Well played lads.3 -
Wow!!! Love it.0

at 42-7 the Leicester Tigers twitter feed tweeted 'oh who scored the try for the Aussies'6
