I think you have to appreciate what balls it takes to hurtle round those roads at speeds approaching 200 mph without any safety run off areas. The margin for error is minute and if you get it wrong going in to a corner it's too late to correct anything, unlike on four wheels. They are on the edge for the whole circuit. As a spectator sport for non bikers I doubt it works too well, they make it look easy.
Mind you, if a man riding a bicycle in circles for an hour can grip an audience, I might be wrong.
