Yet another unfortunate by product of the youth of today not having anything to do with their time. That's not to condone what they've done, but for years the youth of today have gradually seen their 'infrastructure' dismantled by local councils that are chasing the developers money.
Certain young people seem to be getting more and more disaffected and detached from what most of us would call a normal society/community. The causes are multi-fold and range from lazy and poor parenting to social issues born from a raft of uncontrollable (as far as the youngsters are concerned) measures implemented by councils and other local authorities.
There needs to be more engagement with them otherwise we'll see part of a generation lost.

I used to work with someone who burnt his school down - he went on to become a Superintendent for the City of London plod, specialising in fraud and was in charge of the investigation into Nick Leeson.
The more sensible ones grow up and join society - I like to think that's what I did - and the pondlife don't.
If you read the report they are looking for 5 boys and 4 girls between the ages of 14-16!! Last Sunday the park was packed out with maybe an easy 2-300 people enjoying themselves with there kids! WHERE DO THEY GO NOW?
Unfortunately we don't have the power to stop a few people from committing acts of vandalism and ruining it for the many, nor do we have the ability to turn the park back into the state it was before overnight.
The park will be cleared, and hopefully rebuilt. If the council decide not to do this I recommend you write a letter to them, and get your friends and neighbours to do the same. You could even start a petition if needs be, but wait until the council have had an opportunity to work out what they are going to do to remedy the situation.

I'm sure that the climbing frame is not the only thing that can be fun in a park on a sunny day.
Trying to place this one as I've been walking a lot round there doing the Green Chain. I came across a park I had never been in before. Franks Park. That is quite close isn't it but its not that one. Is it as you are going to the footbridge?
Kings Hill it was a play park with the main apparatus burned down! The play park can't be re-opened until all the damage has been cleared? It wasn't the only thing in the park but it was the centre piece which cost a lot of money!

I think the parents need to take responsibility and pay for the damages when the culprits are found. I have a 14 year old and what he does and how he behaves is my responsibility. I signed up to that nearly 15 years ago! I see parents who are quite happy not knowing where their kids are and what they are up to – like it isn’t their problem. Well if they pay for the damage, it becomes their problem.
I think the parents need to take responsibility and pay for the damages when the culprits are found. I have a 14 year old and what he does and how he behaves is my responsibility. I signed up to that nearly 15 years ago! I see parents who are quite happy not knowing where their kids are and what they are up to – like it isn’t their problem. Well if they pay for the damage, it becomes their problem.
Getting the parents to front the cost of the park isn't going to work. It's unlikely they'd have enough money to do so, it would give them a significant financial burden and only serve to worsen the childs home life.
The council should front the costs of replacing the park and the kids should be made to do community service on behalf of the council until they have earn't back the money it cost them.
The problem with that Mutley is that you can't apply this to everything as there some things that the families wouldn't be able to pay for and bankrupting them and taking their house and forcing the local authority to house them becomes counter productive.
Also if an adult does something like this they wouldn't be expected to pay for the damages themselves either - especially if they don't have the money.
