Carling Cup 1st Round Draw on Tuesday - (ed. Dagenham home)

edited June 2015 in General Charlton
The rumours thread's dried up, we've covered where everyone lives and established that the Robin is the nation's favourite bird.

Something else to pass the time - Carling Cup draw on Tuesday, possible opponents as follows. Who do you want? Why? Who do you want to avoid? Do you think we'll be knocked out in the first round, or away to Huddersfield in the 2nd round?

Barnet
Bristol Rovers
Cambridge United
Colchester United
Crawley Town
Dagenham and Redbridge
Exeter City
Leyton Orient
Luton Town
Northampton Town
Newport County
Oxford United
Plymouth Argyle
Portsmouth
Southend United
Stevenage
AFC Wimbledon
Wycombe Wanderers
Yeovil Town

I'd like, Wimbledon or Barnet away, both new grounds for me, although I think we'll probably lose at home to Stevenage.

  • Have I missed something? Can we not get drawn against champ sides?

  • Gutted, I really wanted to go to Huddersfield.

Not sure, I think they should be. They are listed amongst the unseeded sides on this article: http://www.charlton.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=402488

I'll add them at the top.
  • 1) Wimbledon 2) Barnet

Not really interested in the rest, although I could manage an August afternoon drinking in one of the Oxbridge cities whilst the academics are out of town

Stevenage away would be nice - only 15 minutes away from me. Barnet close too and would be a new ground to visit.
  • Crawley or Northampton away never been to their grounds.

Failing that Orient away will do.

However this is Charlton in a cup match so we will get the dullest of them all Colchester or Oxford at home
  • Either one of them home or away on the computer in your living room out in the back garden or down the local park we would still lose as its CHARLTON and the CUP!!!
  • York away please as Im moving up there in August. Nice little Mid-week away day for me.
  • A brief summary of our Round 1 record over the last few years. So on current form, we'll either lose, or we'll move on to Round 2 and then lose away to someone from a vaguely North-Westerly direction.

14/15 Colchester (H) won 4-0 (Colchester were so poor even Simon Church scored against them! Lost at Derby in R2)
13/14 Oxford (H) won 4-0 (That new lad Simon Church looks like one helluva player! Lost at Huddersfield in R2)
    12/13 Orient (H) 1-1, lost on pens
11/12 Reading (H) won 2-1 (I sometimes think I dreamed this game - SCP played the reserves, we were absolutely superb, Simon Francis played like Roberto Carlos. Lost at home to Preston in the next round)
10/11 Shrewsbury (A) lost 4-3 (chucked away a 3-0 lead, Bally Smart played)
09/10 Hereford (A) lost 1-0 (Wade Small played)
08/09 Yeovil (H) lost 1-0 (Stuart Fleetwood and Dean Sinclair on the bench. When we got relegated from the Premier League, we shut down the Charlton Ladies side in order to save around £250k a year. Alan Pardew then went and spent exactly that amount on these two numpties. Shrewd business, Alan.
07/08 Swindon (A) won 2-0 (Chris Powell played. Beat Stockport at home 4-3 in the next round, then lost away to League 1 Luton)
  • Plymouth or Exeter away. Guess where I now live.

I'm gonna guess Torquay, although if you were still in Cordoba then Plymouth and Exeter would be your closest games as the crow flies.

  • 3-0 home defeat to Portsmouth.
  • I have a feeling that this could be our year. When is the final?
  • Wycombe away please.

Stevenage/Luton/Northampton/Barnet away please! All fairly local
  • Firstly... Where are Huddersfield Town? - Secondly if we cant face them until the 2nd Round then its obvious we'll be facing Oxford United!!

We were. I seem to recall Pritch and Hughes destroying their midfield and did Benson not score?
  • I'm a bit gutted we can't play Walsall at home - we all could've watched Jordan Cook again in his only 90 minutes at the Valley for the season

Yep, Benson and Euell. Think Bover hit the bar and Green hit the post from a corner as well.
