Trouble is, if you put a youngster on the bench and your keeper got injured early in the game ............
Then you could always have Inniss in goal. Any crosses or long balls into the box he’d just head away anyway!

Not that crazy of a suggestion, very few keepers catch the ball anyway these days. Would just be like punching it away.

    who does Glover play for?
Melbourne City (the same lot that own Man City)

Looks like he's their first choice as played 27-games in the A-League last season

inc. the title final as they have a similar league setup to the MLS

Obviously far more experienced than AMB.

Yeah I presumed that Ashley would start given the fact that Glover wasnt involved in their June friendlies

He's Australian, they're used to the ball going over the cross bar so thats a distinct possibility...

2-0 win for Australia... Not bad, although I guess Argentina focused on the Copa?

Ashley on the bench again today against Spain

Big game for Australia but they've got a chance seeing that Spain couldnt score past Egypt

They'll advance to the next round should they win today, be good if they do as you'd hope that Ashley might get a run out against Egypt in the last Group Game if they're already safely through... Also means that he'll be reporting back to Sparrows Lane a lot later what with advancing in the competition combined with what I expect will be a 10-day quaranting period

Another game on the bench for Ashley in their final Group game against Egypt

Australia only need a draw to get through to the Quarter-Finals, although will be out if the lose

Brazil (if they finish second) or Ivory Coast (if they win the Group) await in the next round

    Are Australia out ?

From a selfish CAFC point of view it is probably a good thing as he was only on the bench .

He will be back for the start of the season , so either a loan club can be identified or we have him as back up .

Yeah losing 2-0 to Egypt with minutes left

They only needed to draw today to get through so pretty disappointing seeing they beat Argentina and kept Spain at 0-0 until the 80th minute

Egypt win and go through; Argentina also exit the competition

A bit of nominative determinism in the GK department, there.  Anybody know an Ivan Toscorealot who'd like to play for Charlton?

Bit of a meh move for him perhaps - Suppose he'll be up against Rangers and Celtic though

Must have a keeper lined up then. Hopefully not a loan as that will take up a spot in the squad every week. There's a fair few experienced keepers still unattached who we could get in as backup. Luke Daniels, Ryan Allsop, Keiren Westwood. Some experienced backup would be nice to have just in case

We must have a loan keeper on the cards to fill his spot surely.

He'll be first team and dealing with at least 3 decent strikers.
