Last couple of seasons it's been Greenwich council people and before that Andrews.

at least it won't be away fans in their anymore

I'm assuming it's the box I'm thinking of right on the halfway line that I'm going to get when I win the lottery.

The Greenwich Council one is something I started, in either 2010 or 2011, but to be clear it was always deserving individuals, like looked after children, carers, vulnerable people, etc. It was never a beano for councillors or senior officers and they were rigorous about that.

Might have been the "TV box", which had to be vacated if and when required, although I don't remember.

Wendy Perfect hosted VG members in a box for numerous games in 2013/14. It was promoted as part of the VG offer. However, I don't think there's anything in the current VG staff not knowing this - they weren't around at the time.

The east stand boxes are hard to sell outside the Premier League.

Just had a an email from Sharron @ VG.

Different role. Wendy was promoter, Sharron is administrator, which Lisa Squires previously did.

New initiative is that VG now has an Executive Box on the half way line of the East Stand. There will be a draw for every home game and 5 VG members and a guest each will get to use the facility. Champagne reception and programme also thrown in, along with a hot meal and dessert and a pay-bar too.

Draw for QPR and Daggers cup game taking place today.

Sounds like a great way of rewarding members

VG was doing this the season before last, so not new. It's a good idea, but being honest it's a creative way to use a box the club can't sell.
Not unusual (as I am poor at keeping up sometimes) but I knew nothing about VG doing this before.

Perhaps I'll have more luck with this than the actual prize draws.

P.S. Good to hear that it was deserving causes when the Council had it. Would hate to think they were in training for a place in the Lords!!
  • That is bad luck AA!!

After two decades of winning SFA with Valley Gold, I received a call from Jack this morning informing me that my name had been drawn out for myself and a guest for the QPR Executive Box. Sods Law dictates that I am away that week in Taunton watching my son play cricket for Kent.

Will now probably have to wait another 20 years for my name to be drawn out again.

    Good luck to your son!
  • I'm glad that the response to this has been good - we've had some excellent comments from members and hopefully those drawn out for each game enjoy the experience.

AFKABartram - no, I haven't gone already - you can't get rid of me that easily ;) Most of our e-mails go out from Sharron as she is office based (and therefore has access to our member database), and therefore is able to reply quicker to any questions, whereas I divide my work from the office and home.

We are aware that VG had a box a couple of seasons ago but as far as I know, that was on an occasional basis when the club couldn't sell the box and that was only for the physical space. This season, we have the box for all league and cup games, and the winners will get a champagne reception, hot meal, dessert and waitress service.

Good luck everyone and as always, if you have any ideas or things you'd like to see offered to VG member then I'm all ears.

  • Can I have a little more detail on the "waitress service" you speak of?

Win the prize and you will find out first hand..

In all seriousness though - in case you were genuinely wondering - there is a buzzer in the box which will call a waiter/waitress, you can purchase additional drinks or refreshments through them and they'll bring them to you. You can also place your pre-match bets or buy Jackpot tickets when inside the box.

Doesn't really matter, Jack, but that's not the case. Wendy confirms it was for most games, there was hot food, waitress service and complimentary programmes. She hosted it and Valley Gold members were emailed to put themselves forward if they wanted to take up the offer. No champagne though!
