Looks a bit more than a bump on the ferry, driver had a skinful in the mitre to settle the nerves before a crawl through the hotspots of Beckton and Silvertown
Grew up in Abbey Wood, so the old one is the one I knew well. Would think I'd landed on another planet or fifty years in the future if I saw the new one in real life.
This site is gradually digitising OS maps (including the largest scale) - 1950s and earlier (although anything that was military / war office tends to be shown as blank space) - you can move around / fade in and out of current map in the same place, and swap between different eras of map -

Haven't been back for more than 30 years.
