2 consecutive promotions, followed by 2nd, 4th and 3rd place finishes in top tier, then bang! World War 2.
Couple of War Cup Finals and then first 2 cup finals after the war (winning one)
Only Charlton could contrive to put arguably their greatest team together to coincide with the outbreak of a world war!

Sadly its the same with World War One... Had neither War happened then the big London rivalry today could be between Clapton Orient and Charlton
