Programmes arent original, mostly old formats and bad reality tv
Quality dramas and other stuff is far to far between
Sky movies is appalling lately, most of the new release films get held on box office for way to long, and its quite a limited service, and they charge way too much for old films which should be free in my view within the subscription. Its worth starting your own electronic library of movies now which again imho is something sky should/could be doing. Theyve also time limited iplayer too much
Nextflix is also a dissappointment as the offering hasn't improved enough imho over the years
I think I can see daylight through the bottom of the barrel now!. Still Celebrity sheep herding as a concept has probably earned some TV exec a nice bonus. Perhaps there should be a TV show where entertainers actually do something good and entertain us. Cant wait until someone comes up with CelebrityDump.
We were catching up with the last episode of Episodes (funnily enough) yesterday in which Matt LeBlanc is hosting a spoof game show "The Box", where 9 contestants are locked in perspex boxes for umpteen weeks, suffering jungle type challenges. The missus and I looked at each other and at the same time said we could imagine some twat at C4 looking and going "Mmmm...".
I don't believe that the quality of tv programming is greatly different at the moment than at any other time in its history. It's always had a handful of brilliant programmes and a shedload of soporific dross. I think there are two big differences to how we perceive it now though: 1. Even pensioners were brought up with tv, so nothing seems fresh and exciting to anyone. 2. There are so many channels and alternative sources that watching tv is rarely a collective phenomenon like it used to be.
That said, ITV does seem to specialise in complete shit for brain dead morons. The secret to enjoying the tv and seeing some great programmes is to watch sparingly and be very selective about it. Sadly, I think that a large section of the population don't have the wit or the access to alternative forms of entertainment to be that discriminating, but the second you've tune into the third channel you know you've failed miserably.
Perhaps modern attention spans are too short to concentrate too much on quality drama .. the public wants 'reality' rubbish, quizzes, games and laughs .. and by and by .. that is what they get

Or failing that you get Midge Ure and one of our 'New' passionate flare toting fans sat on it and you could call it UltraBox!!!.
