    That's why they gave Pardew so much money - they asked him to guarantee first division football when they actually meant the Premier League

    Apparently we bid £13000 for him which the manager accepted but the Directors of Stoke turned down.
    With the outbreak of war under way Albert Gliksten apparently told Seed " see Jimmy, what would have happened if we had signed him". Fast forward about another fifteen years.
