In Arthur Daley he created one of TV's most memorable characters, lets face it all of us who grew up in London knew an Arthur.

That is really upsetting - a serious part of my television experience while growing up. Minder on a Thursday night was a great excuse to go to bed late.

Hadn't heard that. This one is extra sad for me. Asked him for his autograph after a show, and even though he was going off to lunch with his wife, he not only signed happily but also thanked me for asking him. A true gent! R.I.P.
