In case anyone has had a similar problem, my harddrive recently crashed and I lost 16Gb of music files. I had the music on my iPod but no way to get it back on the PC. Fortunately I found a piece of software called TuneJack which transferred all the tracks back to my PC.
Well recommended if anyone has same problem.
