So C5 get the rights to FL highlights and this is the best they can come up with. Really?

I honestly wouldn't mind if they showed div 2, div 1, goals then short highlights of championship games in that order.
Probably should beiin that order, save best to last an all that, at least you know where stand when you wanna sky plus it.

I have said that it shoud be done division by division by division and loads are saying that. If it has enough complaints sure C5 will have to act.

Complete car crash. Quite unbelievable. Would be bloody annoyed if I'd been able to take it at all seriously.

That's a saving of 70 minutes if you actually didn't watch it. On the advice of my CL comrades I set viewer defined start to 80 minutes and fast forwarded to our 15 secounds, then deleted...

Could've been worse. John Barnes could've been presenting it.

Might regret this... But it can't be worse than the FLS

Just watched the Spike TV showing - that was terrible. The FLS suffered because the BBC stopped giving a toss and Leroy Rosenior and Steve Claridge gave every appearance of having been taken hostage for the evening, with their freedom only being guaranteed if they could spout some cliche about Portsmouth's new manager.

But this... jeez. Someone saw Soccer AM 10 years ago and finally got around to reproducing a hazy version of it on mainstream TV. They'd have been better off fronting it from the chimps' enclosure at London Zoo. And taking a league table seriously after one game?

(mind you, at least I managed to see our goals, having been away at a wedding...)

I understand putting some Championship highlights at the end to keep people interested. But surely they have to be features, or at least extended highlights. They obviously want championship supporters to watch the whole show by having the highlights at the end, but when they literally only show the goals no one is gonna do that. With pictures of our match constantly on the screen behind, I really expected a big feature on us so the show could end with some good material. Honestly I'm shocked channel 5 could get this so wrong, I didn't think it was possible to be worse than Manish and Claridge.

That really was like they were taking the piss.

But they must be up for an award after asking the captive fans what they thought and not having a mic anywhere near them.

I'm shocked absolutely shocked that that many fans would watch a football highlights program , with adverts as well , live rather than record it , shame on you all
Although if you haven't got a recording facility you have an excuse

I think program was on right lines but executed very very badly. I presume they mixed up divisions to keep interest but would maybe have been best starting from league 2 and working up. I like fans involvement but not just as relative bystanders. Ultimately the football should be about the action and analysis and this is where the programme was weak. Good time to show it, needs to be toned down a bit, less fans but have them used more - a bit like sky did a while back when they had single representative fans. Gloating fans are not interesting but moaning fans are. Overall was a bit too much like a Saturday morning children's show.

I had to go to a wedding reception last night and was a bit peeved that I was going to miss the program. So I set the sky-box to record and wow am I glad I did. When I got in I read peoples comments on here and thought sod that I'll watch it in the morning......now I have, but only the first 2 minutes and then our 15 seconds.....it looked crap, it sounded like amateurs had put it together and as for mixing up the leagues and using cardboard cut outs for league tables, what a load of tosh. I used to enjoy the FL on the BEEB, as for this pile of shite.....I'll not be watching it 'live' at all this season that's for sure!! Come back BEEB all is forgiven. Currently watching MoTD, so much more professional and enjoyable.

That was embarrassing, the presenters looked nervous ,most of the coverage was from club cameras as tho they did not have their own cameras at the match,s.It was disjointed, only about three manager interviews. It will go like I.T.V Football coverage of M.O.T.D a few years ago people will turn in their thousands, and when their contract is up B.B.C will get it back.out of 10. minus 20.it was a disgrace to sports presenting. TOSH.

How was you expecting the thread from the title to enhance your life mate?

Read the thread regarding Martin Allensmore disappearance, that'll make up for it.

Come on Derek, did you miss that fascinating piece where fans held up bits of cardboard with the (not latest) odds on teams to be promoted? The BBC never thought of that.

too muddled, too 'red top' but with some good ideas .. the two presenters are OK, but the 'Top Gear' type audience must go .. at least we're spared Savage, Claridge, Carragher and new BBC 'star' Barton and the BBC policy of the bigger twat you are, the more publicity and notoriety thou shalt obtain free of charge

I'am I correct in thinking Channel 5 offered the same amount of money as the BBC for the contract, but because they offered to show it at an early time The Football League went with them. Why can't BBC put it on B.B.C 2 at an early time, after all there were two repeats on last night.

Well after that comprehensive tv review I think we have all agreed on two things, the programme is utter tosh but we need to record it and FF to our goals. Its a shame Sky dont do their own round up show at a set time rather than having to wait till your game comes round.

Hopefully if everyone is not watching C5 live the advertising ratings will take a kicking and they may actually have to produce something worth watching rather than recording.

Wait until proper extended highlights are up on YouTube. It's a shame that they usually don't appear until Monday.
  • Wow, that was awful. Same 15 seconds at the end of the show, different channel...

Good decision to tape it(are you sure?)
condensed it down to 45 mins.
    The worst debut since Lepoint.
Could this be the 1st 100% agreement on CL ?
thou we still have Viewfinder and the man with the Flag(Seth's serial abuser)
    to come.
Come back Manish, Stevie, and Leroy i for one, never said a bad word about you,
it was the others, not me.

If Channel 5 are open to ideas, they do have a basis for something there. Yes it needs a lot of tweaking but could be made into something really good. At the moment it has to be said - it is rubbish and the danger is the people behind it are too protective to change it. But I like the fact that the Channel has been brave, I hope that bravery extends to making the improvements the show needs. To be honest, I think I could change that show, with the same presenters into something special and I'm sure a lot of football fans could say the same. I think the show need to increase it's intelligence - be less swap shop and more analytical. A good feature for that first show for instance would be a fan of each of the relegated Championship clubs giving their analysis on their performances.
