So I was talking to a Reading fan about this on reddit, when it got initially announced.
They reckon that; 5th April is when Dai Yongge could be disqualified by, however Reading wont be kicked out of the League because when the owner is DSQ, as apparently he'll have 30-days to divest his shares - If that's the case they wouldn't be kicked out of the League until the following month, which conveniently ties in with the last day of the season.
If all League games are therefore played, there is no point in null and voiding their results... as no one will gain an advantage, or even disadvantage over another team e.g. Wrexham by not playing them, they'd lose out on a possible three points like what others have achieved.
If that was to happen on 5th May, while results aren't voided, what happens if Reading have finished 6th?
They'd be kicked out the league and 7th would be in the play offs?
It would need a further extension to be granted to Reading by The EFL. The 30 day allowance has already come into play when Yongge was disqualified in March.

The EFL had to confirm the other week that Yongge has already been disqualified. They’d been keeping it quiet to try and ensure the sale went through, but it was disclosed in the court case Yongge had brought against Couhig trying to release Reading’s assets.

In which case I suspect it'll be a repeat of Gateshead in the National League Play-Offs last season.
They weren't eligible to compete, so the team that would have faced them in the Quarter-Finals got a bye to the Semi-Finals... Imagine it would be a repeat here, rather than promoting 7th into the Play-Offs, I suspect 3rd would go straight to the Final.
Seems unlikely a side would get a bye to the final.
Worked in the National league last year as the side that replaced Gateshead still had to play a semi final to qualify. It would be a bit of a farce if a side was placed directly into the final.

Difficult one isnt it... As feels a bit of a farce as well that 7th would possibly win promotion.
Feels like the EFL are going to be damned whatever they decide, unless Reading get a stay of execution.
I think it’s highly unlikely that Reading will be kicked out at all and certainly not this season. The EFL are not known for having balls and they’ll want to kick this can as far as they can down the road to save them having to make a decision which actually helps nobody. That would mean the league places as is are maintained and nobody has grounds to moan. Quite what happens if the situation is not resolved by the start of next season though is I guess a very good question. What happens if Reading are promoted this season via the playoffs and then couldn’t take up their place in The Championship ? Would the team they beat in the playoff final be promoted or the team that finished third or would The Championship play with one less club ?
I don't think they will be kicked out of the league, but i do think if they finish top 6 they won't be allowed into the play offs.
What rule would prevent them from doing this ? They are either allowed to participate in the league including its conclusion and playoffs or they are not allowed to compete at all. Anything other than the former would be a farce.

No idea what rules are or aren't in place, i based my post on this:
"Although the EFL does have the power to disqualify Reading from the football league if a sale is not completed by April 5, this is something that they are reluctant to do other than as a last resort. Alternatively, it is far more likely that Reading will be suspended from playing matches until the takeover situation is resolved."

then what would happen about the points from the matches they have completed?

Null and void, effectively a 44 game season.
that benefits us to a certain extent - Shrek is a Reading supporter
This all sounds like a complete and utter mess , surely the only person that can do a deal now is Platek and you've got this separate debacle between Couhig and Dai that threatens to ruin everything.
It does sound like Couhig might be willing to do a deal with Platek, from that article. Just that he won't trust any promises from the current owner. Can't imagine why not...
If they extend the deadline until the end of the season this potentially will cause massive problems for the promotion/ relegation battles and the Play Off matches for both League 1 and League 2.
To be fair they need to make a decision about Reading FC this week, and implement any point deductions that may be made based on their ruling.
At this stage, points and league positions can still be altered in line with the rules of the EFL.
If you do this at the end of the season clubs it would not be fair to promote or relegate a team based on their results against Reading FC when Reading had knowingly broken the rules of the English Football League.
A deal will happen, it is all just posturing and negotiation. The two Yanks will find a way to get an agreement as they are both sensible business people. They will be trying to ensure Yongge gets next to nothing back I imagine.

it May seem hard but it is the only fair outcome.
