Bit late isnt he... Does he realise that we've had Riga / Peeters / Luzon since?

SLP said no interview pre Boro, unofficial.
    CAFC says interview, official.
Nothing to do with fans disquiet, simply routine

What they meant was no SLP interview pre Boro, after Cawley printed some facts.

This is the strangest head coach appointment since Benfica in 2000 gave the job to a 37 year old who was the interpreter to Bobby Robson and coached the youth team under Louis van Gaal.

In-house interview in which the club controls all the questions, I'd guess.

    Can't keep hiding, Katrien.

Good luck to Karel, say I. No-one knows what will happen. He might have a positive effect on things and if the players like him, I'm hopeful that they will raise their game.
It's certainly a tough start, playing 'Boro away. When do you reckon we'll overtake Brighton?

But she will for as long as she can. Doesn't want to damage her CV.

We have a number of scouts around the country who do reports on players and teams .....

    Like who ?
To be fair most clubs have a number of part time scouts that we don't necessarily know about. I doubt Chapple would have been watching Middlesbrough himself anyway
OK, so how come the strategy was so flawed against Preston and Brentford in terms of team set up and the midfield being so outnumbered ? The scouts reports were ignored by Luzon ?
Perhaps the part-time scouts went with Chapple? If they are part-time, they won't be under contract. I left Wimbledon mid-season to go with Ray Harford to Blackburn. Wimbledon had no say in it. Depends whether The scouts were loyal to Chapple or the club.

Carol should be at Hillsborough tonight to watch Wednesday and/or Old Trafford tomorrow to watch Boro. He has the opportunity to watch both. Wednesday are 4-1-4-1 tonight, but were 4-4-2 to 4-2-4 on Friday at Rotherham. Boro are normally 4-2-3-1.
    He must be pinching himself

    scouting the next opponents here

rather than here (KSV Bornem - Hamme's opponents on the weekend - capacity 3000)

I played at SV Bornem on a pre-season tour. The stand on this side is much bigger with a social club looking out onto the pitch. Our team at Feltham was Kent League standard, Bornem were Ryman Premier standard and we were well beaten 0-7. Not helped by the night out in Bruges the night before. We played Zele Eendracht the next day, and lost by a similar score, not helped by a second night out in Bruges.

Correct because Jose resigned because the new president wouldn't give him a contract extension after Benfica beat Sporting Lisbon.

There must be a 1000 to 1 chance that Karel can emulate Jose.

    2000 ?

    A joke:

RD (to Fraeye & De Corte): 'Interim jobs?'

KF: 'Roly you old dog! I'll coach the team but you're not paying us enough for that.'

    Ah thangyou.

In all seriousness, does anyone have any idea what type of a coach/manager he is? I know we'll find out soon enough but is he known as attacking, defensive, does he like to go direct? Has anyone on here got an idea of how he likes his sides to play?

Is there such thing as attacking/defensive/pressing type coaches when you get to the bottom half of Belgian division 3?

I just assumed they kicked the ball and ran after it, just like they do on Charlton Park on a Sunday morning.

There's no way we are staying up unless RD dips his hand in his pocket in January and even then it will require a miracle

And even if we do stay up I still hate the boring Belgian circus like freak show we have become

Sure a few fans will start wearing their knees out again as they re embrace what a masterful visionary Roland is but I have lost my Charlton mojo cos of that man and I dislike him with a passion

Is Mark Stow our scout ?

Think Roland left/sold Standard Liege because he was getting threatened by their fans

I'm not sure this time ooh aah. I was perturbed after the mess of Peeters leaving and the way GL was recruited. Yes, I bought back into things might be okay given GL's start. I was equally encouraged with the activity in the summer and positive start we made. They're now well and truly out of credit with me. I think I have noticed others on here that have a similar view point.

Nothing but an absolute change of strategy now and a gesture that mistakes have been made, getting an experienced manager in etc will convince me to think otherwise .

I've seen some people on here, posters who I respect and enjoy reading their comments, become all to disillusioned with it.

I'll continue to go to games, I won't let an owner I don't like spoil part of my life that has been there for 25 odd years, but I'm very detached from it all
