Safety car won't even do anything now, absolutely pointless coming into the pits.0

Has anybody actually overtaken yet?1

Will be a great result for Lando if he can hold onto 3rd.2

Crofty again trying to defend Monaco as a race.
If you’re having to defend the race twice and during the race, then I think it’s fair to say it’s a shit race.6 -

Watching it on PVR. Have skipped through about 40 of the 44 laps so far. Fucking dreadfully viewing as every year.
Brundle trying to justify is as “part of the calendar and a different challenge for the drivers” but I don’t believe it’s all that challenging these days. Maybe back in the day it was but this track is no challenge to modern F1 cars. They don’t have to race a full pace to keep cars behind so, apart from around the pit stops, they can just cruise around leaving a fair margin for error. Verstappen isn’t getting within 6ft of the barriers most of the time. Saturday decides almost everything here - that why Ferrari took the gamble on Leclerc’s gearbox, and why not - might as well have a shot at one win for the season.
The media will never admit it but the only reason this race is still on the calendar is because the Paddock, Media, and F1 organizers all love the jolly up in the sun of Monte Carlo. They don’t give a shit that we’re all sat bored to death on our sofas.
We should start boycotting it as viewers - perhaps a few years of a significant drop off in viewing figures might make them finally take it off the calendar. No one missed it last year.7 -

it is a procession, not a race. Waste of time. As an aside I reckon David Croft and Martin Brundle are the best co-commentators around in any sport.1

Oh gawd. I’ve caught up on to “live” the PVR, I get to watch the entirety of the rest of the race. Goodie gum drops.1

Can't be long until Merc call in Lewis to go for fastest lap.1

I actually think they feel they have to defend Monaco because it gets so much criticism.
But in my opinion, the criticism is well deserved.0 -
Hahaha! Crofty: “If you want to watch highlights alongside the race”…
What highlights would they be then?1 -
I reckon you could win this race in a Ford Sierra if they let you start it on Pole.7

I quite like Monaco and would love to go one day. There are a few other boring tracks I’d get rid of first at least.1

But it is on the calendar and that isn’t changing anytime soon.1 -
This is like watching dash cam footage of someone’s morning commute.2
-
Brundle finally, albeit rather understatingly, admitting it’s been a borefest.2

That was awful. Not even the hint of a race.3

Most entertaining bit was watching Serena Williams struggling to wave the flag.
She needs to work on her backhand.5 -
Verstappen leads the Championship. Still think Mercedes and Lewis will have a decent lead come September time.4
-
The only overtaking was the lapping of cars. Monaco toys for the rich.4
-
Serena Williams, a couple more knockers of the race.0

Couldnt believe the disgusting behaviour between Sainz and Norris during the post race interviews
Netflix will have a field day with Drive to Survive... I mean Carlos literally PUSHES Lando!!0 -
Unbelievable rubbish. The last time there was any drama at this race was when there was a bit rain. My wife even knew the result before kickoff, she said it’s always a procession and that’s the total knowledge she has on motorsport. It’s just tradition and sponsors that keep this yawn fest going. If it wasn't for the excitement of a stripped thread on a wheel nut/hub I’d have gone to sleep.
The track is too small, too short and has no place to overtake except for botched pit stops.
I have two suggestions to make it a little more interesting, random hosepipes watering a couple of corners and race in 60 year old cars.2 -
Need to drop it from the calender, and make it an exhibition race that teams can enter as an aside to the actual championship, the cars are too big, to unwieldy and, unless stuffed into a wall, too bulletproof for the circuit.2
-
The race itself is a few seconds sprint to the first bend, whoever gets round that in first place invariably wins.2
-
It's often described as the "Jewel in the Crown" of the F1 calendar, which is absolute cobblers. If it is it's a jewel made of cubic zirconia.
I would have to be paid to attend the race day but would happily go on the Saturday for qualifying.0 -
I’m off to Brands Hatch next weekend to see some proper F1 cars in the Masters Historic meeting. Old school Mclarens, Williams, Lotus etc plus a host of classic support races, including saloons, Le Mans & GT cars.Well worth going if you’re into that type of thing3
