Is it not just backwards compatibility? If you have certain xbox 360 games you can now play them on your xbox one

Yep, there was an update the other day.

If you have 'instant-on' feature applied then it wouldn't have notified you.

There is a specific list of around 100 360 games that can be played on the Xbone. If you have the physical disc copy of one these games, you just pop it in your xbone, and that initiates a download of a digital copy of the that game to play off the xbone hard drive. Think you still need the disc in the drive every-time you want to play the game though.
