Jimmy Bullard: Hull City Paid Me Millions by Mistake!
The former midfielder joined Hull from Fulham for a record fee of £5m in 2009, speaking on his Magic Sponge Podcast, Jimmy revealed how a typo in his Hull City contract saw him net an extra couple of million.
"We had the chat before with the club, he’s obviously gone away to talk to the club, and the contract was £40,000 a week. And I was like ‘yeah, blinding contract, let’s sign it." Bullard said.
"I’ve gone to sign it, I see on the paperwork it says £50,000. So I’ve passed it under the table to my agent, my agent’s gone: ‘yeah, that’s a misprint, sign it
"As I’ve signed it, I blew it dry, and then I read under it as well, another £5000 or £6000 appearance, whatever it was.
"And he’s said: ‘yeah, just sign it, just sign it’, and blew it dry,’ he added.
"This club is chucking it away like confetti, that’s a joke. So I was on £55,000 a week from £40,000.
"Amazing contract, amazing. And I’m celebrating to this f***ing day. Thank you Hull City for changing my life. I’m dropping cash everywhere, I’m bleeding cash.’
The contract wasn't enough to keep the charismatic midfielder in check, as Bullard had his contract terminated for breaching the club's alcohol policy while away with the team in Slovenia.
Read the part of his book, when he joked about being in the England squad, and both ordering Maccy D's to his room, and openly calling Capello 'Postman Pat' - then whinging about not being picked again. Not the brightest.
Normal lad who was half decent at football, made a good few quid out of it and enjoyed himself.
I'm not one of these 'lads' that think he's the funniest man alive cos he isn't and ive known him to act like a div at times but always says hello to people down the one bell or if recognized.
Alot worse people associated with the game than him.
He narrowly avoided being hurled off the Humber Bridge by his 'teammates' who all hated the cocky but always injured lil fecker and had had more than enough of him .. he left Hull soon after that incident .. still he's quite a good laugh and if Hull were profligate and stupid enough to pay him that kind of money, then bigger idiots them
