Lived life full and lived it loud. Not my usual musical taste, but the guy is a rock, metal, punk legend. Make some noise up above Lemmy. Rest in wonderful abandonment!
I tried to have a conversation with him during a 'Girlschool' gig, he never heard a single word but nodded enthusiastically, rest in peace and in loud rock Lemmy.
Driving yesterday and Vine on Radio2 did a good 30 minute piece on Motörhead and Lemmy, that included interviews with people who were close to him and music journalists etc. It was interesting to hear that he hated Motorhead being regarded as 'Heavy Metal' and that he rightly saw him/them as a rock 'n' roll band with his influences being Eddie Cochrane, Everly Brothers, Little Richard, Beattles etc. And when asked last year what was his favourite all time single, he replied 'Name of the Game' by Abba.
I went to a Searchers gig on Saturday night and Frank Allen told a little story about how Lemmy turned up at one their gigs (he was a fan apparently). He asked if he could meet the band after the show and they were expecting a hard drinking session....but all he wanted was a cup of tea and a chat! The lads were pretty relieved at that and thought Lemmy was a really nice bloke.
