An old interview with Katrien Meire

This has probably been posted on previous discussions from when it got published, however, some of the wording on here is so frustrating, for example, 'Charlton is Duchatelet’s club' is one of many things on there that got me!

However, sometimes when I go to the boardroom of the away club, the home club chairman comes to the table and starts talking to the guy in the suit because he thinks he’s the chief executive. Sometimes we take sponsors with us and the chairman comes up and says, 'your club is doing well,’ and the sponsors say, ‘it’s not my club!’”

Must of been one with a great sense of humour!

Good grief, is it possible to play the 'victimised woman in a nasty man's world' card any more than she does. Endlessly. We loathe her because she is utterly useless, a liar and simply does not get football or football clubs, NOT because she is female.

I could not care less about the sex, sexuality, religion or colour of the next CEO. Just as long as they are good at their job.

I went in to great detail in another thread last week about how I see her, specifically her usage of the media as a weapon. This is why I think she can't take the heat at the moment now she's getting slated from every angle.

This interview is a perfect example of the type of nonsense that led me to my conclusion.

"This is a long-term project. But the fans need to be realistic because our budget is the third lowest in the Championship."

Katie, we are realistic. What's unrealistic is setting a budget for the bottom three and expecting the team not to end up in it.

    Exactly!

I don’t think that in itself is unrealistic. What is unrealistic is expecting an endless stream of managers who have no say or influence to build a competitive squad on a budget that is the third lowest in the Championship!. To be fair, it would be unrealistic if it was 6th highest!

It is funny they go on about budget. Even if their plan works they will probably take 15 years to pay for all the waste already. Polish Pete, George, Reza, Sarr and so on and on and on etc and forever.
If she had said the fans have to be realistic and know we are gambling big time with their season ticket money, and any money we put in to the game of chance will be added debt to the club, so our personal gamble can't lose.

The way that she talks you would think that the budget is imposed upon them, either through regulation or limited resources. We know neither to be true.

This is another example of her always passing the buck. Either blame the fans or the postie or her under-skilled staff or the translators or, in moments like this, Roland. What she is saying is she can't stand up to him, so it's too bad if the first team is crap.

I would like to know the details of drunken fans picking fights! And the hate mail telling her she doesn't know how to run the club? Is this exaggeration?

The stuff about Luzon is wonderful!

She's such a mug. Playing the overly vulnerable poor woman in football sex card for attention.

Why is it funny? Whys everything funny? Funny that a director of another club doesn't take you seriously enough to think your anyone important , based on 1st impression.
You should be be pissed off by that and impose yourself as a professional . You stupid childish prick floating around like Alice in wonderland. (I'm going ott here but she is just particularly rather irritating)

The bloke on the train questioning her...it's video recorded online and "picking a fight" is, either a pathetic exaggeration ....or, pathetic and stupid misleading use of the English language. Learn English you daft bitch of last year.

The screaming in her face fans....hmmmmm. If someone is screaming in someone else's face that is weird.
Sounds like just a loosely described lie.

I wonder if Meire is mostly actually really enjoying the attention.

Good attention and bad attention may not be much of a difference for her.

"Obviously, the fans were really upset because they wanted Alan Curbishley back as a head coach and we had brought in Luzon with no Championship experience."

The art of missing the point entirely.

When I read her interviews, even the old ones, I find myself asking - would Brady have said that? The answer is rarely yes. I'd love to get a comment from Brady as to how she sees KM's contribution to women in business.

Is that from the Daily Mail article?

If so, what annoys me is her attaching the tag "fans favourite" to Alan Curbishley, implying that the fans love him but he's not that good, before going on to say that the decision to appoint Luzon when Curbs applied for the role has been vindicated.

After the porn on the pitch incident that was originally sold as a security leak, what's to say that the train video wasn't actually a worked video as well?

I hate it when folk use 'obviously', it's a way of avoiding explanation obviously.

I have just emailed Karren Brady to ask whether she believes that Katrien Meire is improving the perception of women in senior positions in the football industry.

More likely to get a reply than from Katrien
