Pretty sure we'll not be seeing Williams again now if I'm honest.

Seems a positive sign that Jose can see where our problems lie. Get in an experienced unit at centre half, get the defence sorted and build off that. In theory we should have more or less the right tools to do that. Despite all my support I still have concerns about Fox as first choice left back and I think he'd quite fancy a break to be honest. We need some pace down that flank so a quick LB should be a priority now, but if Teixeira can bring organisation to the middle our whole defence should be less overburdened in general.

I know nothing about Jorge's playing style. I don't know if he's fast or not, how vocal he is (or if he speaks English. If not, key words to learn are 'Network', 'interim' and 'fuck sake Naby') or if he's a leader. The first challenge is who to partner him with - Johnson has had an atrocious start but is a good organiser, Lennon is young but with promise, Naby Sarr is three small children stacked in a trench coat and Rhys Williams is probably researching ways to re-rupture his Achilles so he never has to play football for us again. If only we had Bauer available.

If Teixeira is decent though I'm confident with an organised back four and Poyet doing the job he did for us previously we'll have enough in front of our own goal to start thinking about ways to trouble the opponent's. And if we're being really honest, despite it all an attack involving Harriott, Vetokele, Makienok, Gudmundsson, Reza, Lookman and Watt in various combinations should be able to stick the ball in the net.

Would've been really nice to have said he IS a good player rather than he sounds like one.

    Hi bum

Johnson, Texiera on Saturday and see how that goes.

He wrote a nice goodbye letter to the Liege fans in English on his twitter feed, so I'm guessing he can.

Remember the last time Johnson played a home game against Blackburn? Simple pass from Ben Haim, Johnson stamps on the ball, it bounces behind him, Rhodes latches on to it, WALLOP, GOAL!

I think his loan only covers one more game anyway

Four and a half years for a 29 year old... Bad decision that. Could well be a good signing in the short/medium term though

He might be able to bring the best out of Sarr. We shall see.

He'll bring the best out of Sarr by keeping him out of the team.

Indeed, overpaying for the downside of his career. Still, we are desperate and his legs haven't gone yet!

Is it? If he's good then he could still be of use to a Championship or League One team aged 34. Jackson will be 34 in August and he's essential to the character of our squad. Sure if Teixiera is terrible then we're stuck with him forever and Ujpest get a free loan, but one of the problems we have is with not retaining experience and just bringing in untested kids. As long as this is a player identified by Riga I've got no complaints about the signing.

Plus it also seems to be the case that he is a player that has been targeted by new head coach Jose Riga. #cafc

Targeted from an open choice or a network list I wonder?

Perhaps they plan to move him around the network once we've finished with him.

How amazing ... yet another player signed from Standard Liege! Oh well, he can't possibly be worse than Nabby, can he?

Riga took charge of Standard Liege on 02 February 2015... Going by the above link he only played under him for seven matches (Pro League and Play-Offs) so guess he was injured quite a bit
Charlton sign injury prone player on the cheap shock.

New arrival Jorge Teixeira insists he is ready to fight for Charlton after arriving at The Valley on Tuesday afternoon.

The former Maccabi Haifa and FC Zürich defender joined on a three-and-a-half-year deal to become the Addicks’ fourth signing of the January transfer window and with his new club sitting in 23rd position in the Championship, the 29-year-old made it clear that he is fully aware of the task at hand.

“I know it’s a hard challenge, but I like a challenge,” said Teixeira.

“I’m up for it and anyone who knows the kind of player I am knows I give everything on the pitch to help the club.

“I am here to help Charlton to achieve safety and I hope in the end we can all be happy. I’m here to help the team.”

Meanwhile, the centre-back cited new Head Coach Jose Riga as a major incentive to join the ranks in SE7, having previously worked with the Belgian at Standard Liege.

“A few days ago, I spoke to Jose Riga and he convinced me to come here,” he explained.

“I know him as a coach, I worked with him last year and I am delighted to be working with him again.

“When I arrived today, I spoke to the coach, I spoke with the staff and I have had a look at the training ground and tomorrow I’ll be able to start and be ready as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile, Riga was delighted with his new acquisition which bolsters his defensive option for the remaining 19 games of the campaign.

“I’m very pleased to welcome Jorge to Charlton,” said the Addicks boss.

“I know him very well from his time at Standard and I am very satisfied that he has the qualities we need.

“He has played a lot of games already this season so he is fit and ready to join us which is very important.”

I can just see Richard Murray saying " we have made the mistake of signing yo many foreign players and with that in mind I would like to introduce to you our latest recruit from Liege.... "
