It's in KMs best interests to be economical with the truth to 'two chalets'. It's not rocket science, if he sells up she's out of her dream job :smirk:

fair point but what's that got to do with Bromley Addicks? : - )
Nothing your honour it was a response to @Tunwellsaddick who suckered me in :disappointed: . Good coup although can't make it unless you want to afford me honour honorary membership and cover the travelling expenses  .
You can afford £5 to join and you can pay your own travel expenses. We're not a charity, ya know : - )
  • Will be a load of baroni baloney

Fair play to her. She needs to hear what's what. Whether it'll do her any good when she gets back to the Valley is another question. She is Ms Meire's hire to control a comms team that she doesn't value or trust. It would be 'interesting' to see what happens if Ms Baroni goes native!

She'll report back to squirrel face and Meire will say "f*** them".
  • She is part of the enemy and can't be part of the solution. Let her know what she's come in to.
  • Will she be allowed to bring a friend? If she brings KM ban her from entering.
  • Do they serve Peroni?

  • I thought I heard an apology over the sound system on the day? An unreserved one to his family?

I do not think it would be appropriate to put it on the web site personally. If it was my family I would have accepted the apology and would not appreciate the mistake being reported over the Internet. It is not what I would want my Father to be remembered for.

Some may disagree, but before making it an issue I think you should find out what their wishes are and respect them.
  • Would interested to hear from her why that there is still no apology from the club on the official website regarding Graham Moore

Maybe the same reason her LinkedIn profile says she still works for Saachi? Unless of course she's just been loaned to us till the end of the season. (A secondment they would call it.)

I would've thought it would be called an interim appointment

Like most on here I want the regime to leave our club. But in the mean time I really want them to stop humiliating our proud club in the eyes of the footballing world and the community. This Mel person is not part of the regime in my view. She is Charlton staff and we don’t abuse the staff.

For those on here who have decided the club has to crash in order to force RD and KM to go, then I can understand you wanting Ms Baroni to experience a hard time and ultimately fail. I am not with you on this. (cue lots of people check my previous posts to confirm their suspicions that I am some kind of stooge. I’m not, but I’ve only been a Charlton fan for 15 years and stopped being a season ticket holder when my kids were born, so haven’t really earned the right to post very often).

Her LinkedIn profile suggests she has at least been around football and sport for most of her career. And if she’s Saatchi then she’s at least well trained. She will have read all the communications that have come out of the regime and will have taken the role knowing she has her work cut out, but that there are some basic disciplines of professional communication that she can impose to at least stem the flow of bone-headed own goals.

The questions I would be asking at Bromley would be:
    - Have you agreed with the regime that any and all statements must go across your desk before being issued?
    - Have you agreed the delegated authority to respond quickly to events, without needing to get everything countersigned by your incompetent employers.
    - You are Head of Communication for Charlton Athletic, so does that include RD’s statements and interviews. What controls/protocols have you put in place?
    - Why did you take the job? What does success look like for you in this role?

My suggestion is that someone takes the opportunity to have a quiet word on our behalf. There are people on here that wouldn't get off on being ITK and we could offer her a couple of them as secret proof-readers of club statements. Just until she is fully up to speed on what will push people’s buttons or be a complete contradiction to a previous release or is total un-Charlton. There are so many quotes and statements that have come out where even I know it’s going to make things worse between club and fans.

If we assume for a minute that she is actually good at her job or at least wants to be, then she will want and need to listen to the fans, the protesters, the media coverage etc. If we choose to support her and have an open channel of communication with her, then it’s possible she can be the voice in the regime’s ear saying “don’t do that, this is how it will be received”, “we must be honest about this or that” and “what’s really bothering people is this”.

I wish I could join you on the night but I’ll be away with work.

I think it's unrealistic to imagine she could use people outside the club as proof readers or that that should be necessary, but certainly agree she shouldn't be treated as an enemy. For a bit of context, however, Richard Murray and Alan Curbishley never worked in the way you suggest and neither would have agreed to do so, whatever the professional thing to do. This caused its share of problems as the comms team often had to manage the fall-out.
  • I would suggest one obvious question for the new HoC as she does not appear to have a football background, would be to discover if she is aware of the Football League and Club charter with regard to responding to communications in a timely manner.

If not, we could at least set an expectation.

  • Mel Baroni is not the enemy, but neither is she the friend.
In my view she has to establish some credibility after pitching up at a time when many feel very antagonistic towards the club, and to her by association.
It would be good if Mel Baroni somehow indicated that she understands what it feels like to be a Charlton Athletic fan for starters, and then told us why we should not abandon the club because of the misgivings that she also understands we have.
  • No surely not the 'what does success look like for you in this role' question?

Queue trite bullshit around making sure the clubs communications with fans are improved and that the owner and CEOs well meaning intentions are better understood by the excellent fan base we are lucky to have here at Charlton....
  • I would not ask her a question but tell her a couple of blatant porkies the fans have been told over the past two years.
Then tell her that she has an extremely hard job, virtually impossible even, in turning things around.
  • Maybe CARD should go and ask for tips on how to communicate effectively enough for RD to sod off.
