his missus will want to vet the secretary's first though
vet the secretary's what exactly? As in something belonging to the (singular) secretary.
or: vet the secretaries? As in a number of the administrative support staff.
Remedial punctuation session for English as a second language now over. Mrs Cahill shouldn't be delayed too long in assessing the chances of Timothy finding suitable adulterers, given how depleted the staff is these days.
TC's alleged off field scoring aside, if he's any sort of fit, I'd have him in the team quicksmart. With Jordan Cousins's hamstring injury TC would immediately be the best midfielder in the squad, always knew where the goal was and was great at winding up the opposition. He also had the good sense/taste to leave the spanners when the chance came.
Re "secretary's", I thought of pointing that out but couldn't be arsed. I must be mellowing in my old age. Either that, or the general melancholy around CAFC right now is having a deleterious affect on my pedantry.
I heard a story about him once how he nearly signed for us from Millwall, but his brother got himself into some trouble and he had to leave London. I don't know how true that was.
He did the handcuff celebration after scoring which was related to an incident in Bromley that his brother was doing time for. Bromley is in Kent so you must be mistaken.
Went to schools with the victim and he was a mate of a mate from my area.
Must know you mate, was a witness to what happened that night and was only about 4 of us. The victim is a good friend of mine for many years, lost touch recently as he now lives in the States and I'm living in Oz.

AA it's not pedantry old love, rather a deep affection for our language and the importance of the form in which it is written. Without correct spelling and accurate punctuation, where would we be? My metaphorical seeds of syntax specificity are cast on the stony ground of parlous intellect, to be choked by the weeds of apathy and incomprehension but acquiescence is anathema to me. The parallel with Roly Doeshitalot's staggering fuckwittery is chilling. We fight on.

I am grateful to you for pointing out my grammatical imperfections, if you hadn't I am sure jimmymelrose would have done eventually.
When i said 'vet the secretary's first though' I meant vet so as to ensure that they were not too fit and therefore provide a temptation to little Tim.

I was being a tad tongue in cheek. If you go back over my posts, you will see I have not been shy in calling others to task for their failing to worship at the altar of correct English, especially if the abomination that is 'could of' should drop from their keyboards.

I think we all understood your use of 'vet'. It was "secretary's" instead of "secretaries" to which @StigThundercock refered.
