    Glad it went well.

Not sure anyone who went tonight can criticise anyone who's bought a season ticket for next year though.

    Great night, as usual...

Players, as always, approachable and good company.

Had a few sherberts with Hendo, on my table, and a great chat with Jacko.

But as you bunch of misery guts think it's a waste of time, I'm not going to tell you what he informed me...

I think it's just fantastic that you went tonight and hope you had a great evening.

Feel free to PM me what was said.

Not going to quote any player, but I was mildly surprised at just how many were prepared to openly criticise the owner and the CEO, and how many back the protests.

Riga gave a speech that sounded very much like a goodbye, and managed to thank everyone except the regime.

I genuinely think Riga could be a decent manager if he weren't working for a si

I'm in the midst of moving from LA to Oregon, just stopped over for the night so haven't had a chance to read through it all.

First off, @Fanny Fanackapan congratulations and thank you. I hope I can attend in future years, and by all accounts you do a marvelous job. You are one of the many credits to this club that no regime will ever take away, and people like you make us all proud to be Charlton.

Reading Mutley's post on why he voted for Jordan really brought it home to me that this is probably his sending off. I would have voted Diarra as my first choice, Jordan would have been second, with an honorable mention to Nick Pope as most improved from last year and throughout the season. It's sad to think yet another one from the academy could be moving on. He seems to be a nice and humble kid, and no one can ever doubt his effort or his care for the club. I think he's often overlooked when players get mentioned as "proper Charlton." On a personal note, I like that he wears glasses, almost gives him a Clark Kent vibe.

Hope everyone had fun. Look forward to hearing the good, the bad, and the ugly over the coming days. All the gossip and dirty laundry will air out eventually, but I hope all of you had a good time and enjoyed each others' (and the players') company.

Best from a hotel near the Sacramento airport.

No need to quote players but would be good to have some of what was said without the names? Wish i could have come but been away all weekend

What did last night have to do with the regime?

This was by the fans, for the fans.

But the regime didn't organise it. Jean and Ian battled to keep this a fans event and I went to support that.

Using the club's facilities & caterers which essentially dictate the price of tickets which are sold through the ticket office !

As I said on the Trust thread re the decision to meet KM & RD last week, in this situation we are in with the regime there are going to be hard decisions to be made and I think (and this is only my view), on the balance of things, it's probably right to keep the POTY events going so that we preserve it for for once this odious ownership have departed and all credit to Fanny for organising it, sounds like it was a big success under difficult circumstances.

I heard one player implicitly say, and at some volume, "bottle of Heineken please" - no names mind

Well done Jean. So richly deserved. Pleased it went well after all the hard work. We used to very much enjoy the evenings.
  • Did anyone confront Katrien?

Please tell me she didn't leave the event without getting an earful from someone.

Well, that rules out Roger Johnson, I'd have thought.

Strangely I think it was an important night for the players too. Thing is you can't have the players at the do without cooperation with the club. It would have been a very different story had the club wrested it from Ian and Jean's control as they intended.

she should have stayed away. If it had kicked off, singing, chants, mild abuse etc then it would have ruined the event for those there and undone all the hard work put in by Jean and Ian who wouldn't have deserved the event to be disrupted. However, she did go so I hope a few had a quiet word in her ear and told her to do one, permanently.

Yes, at least one person I know of. She was, however, flanked by 3 heavies for most of the evening.

They were also searching bags as people went in.
I can only assume she went to try and put the frighteners on the players from speaking out too much.

Can't believe it's come to this - searching bags at the door to POTY! Hopefully next year's will be an altogether more normal event with new owners in place. We can dream anyway.

David Badjumper was never more than 3-ft away from her all evening although I suspect this is because if he was any further away then his response time would be somewhat compromised...
