Aged 90 is a great age his contribution to music and the way he allowed artist's to blossom means he will be remembered as long as the music is played. A real genuine great of the music business. RIP George and thanks for everything.
A very sad loss, but 90 is a great age. I was brought up with The Beatles, a great group with some great music, singles, albums etc, George was a legend in his trade a visionary, he started what we now have.....RIP sir.
How many "5th Beatle" were there? Epstein Martin Sutcliffe Cilla
The kop remembers.
And not forgetting Billy Preston.
I thought Apu was the fifth Beatle!
He always appeared to be very straightlaced, but with the Beatles moved the making of music into the modern age as technology improved and recording became more that just the taping of a bands live act. He had to adapt, change and innovate as more and more was demanded, by the Beatles particularly.
I Remember in Anthology how he discussed, with the remaining Beatles, the techniques used to get the sounds they wanted, with everything improvised using small pieces of tape, and playing back sound through tinny speakers to obtain what today is achieved by just pressing a button on a sounddesk.

I Gotta be honest I was terrified that this was about the author...
A pivotal figure in the Beatles story and to all intents a nice man to boot.
