  • Taking my son for his 21st in October. Staying in the New York New York Hotel. It sounds nuts. Doing a tour of Zion, monument Valley, Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam and 3 days in both Vegas and New York. Can't wait. Just me and him. Will be a blast.

Nice one... Is that what you decided in the end for your US trip.

Envious that your getting to go Monument Valley... Wanted to go there when I went to Vegas but was too far for a Day Trip

New York New York is great but very lively. Biggest issue IMO is no buffet breakfast - unless its changed - last stayed there about 10 years ago. Love Vegas and really need to go back. Am lucky enough to have been quite a few times and find it surreal. Want to go back this year.
  • Went last year for the first time on my brothers stag, I recommend pre-booking clubs and a pool party.

The first night we went here: http://www.draislv.com/ We had a table and plenty of pre-bought alcohol and therefore didn't spend a penny more, I got so drunk I woke up on the hotel room floor.

We then had David Guetta at the XS Nightclub but they stupidly gave our table away which ruined the night a little bit as 12 of us cramped around a table which was probably meant for 4. Still a decent night though.

The pool party was good fun also, can't remember which one it was. It was funny to see idiots throwing dollar bills and wasting money on champagne showers.

If I was to go again and I'd love too, I'd pre-book everything. The whole trip up front cost us around 2k but I hardly spent a thing out there, not much of a gambler myself.

Have fun, it's an amazing place.

Can you adopt me and take me for my 50th in 2020 ?

    Go downtown Vegas one night

It is very different to the strip

    Freemont st is an experience.
  • Encore Beach Party - Get a villa
XS Nightclub - Get a VIP table
Rooftop bar at Mandalay Bay - Stunning views
Tao in the Venetian - Great club
Spearmint Rhinos - Get a limo and free entry

Make the most of any buffet deals you have at your hotel - loads of food for no cost.
  • spearmint rhino as said above - several divisions up from over here - champions league of strip clubs
new york new york piano bar - great laugh

Yeah. We kicked it around for ages and this was the best compromise of. what we wanted todo and what I could afford. Junior gets a blown out in Vegas, I get my monument valley desert drive and we both wanted to do NYC and Grand Canyon. It's a bit of a marathon in 11 days but it should be a blast.
  • John Sullivan (ex keeper) is over there and puts on events, he sorted out tickets for us. I'll see if I can find his details.
  • Went for my 21st and 22nd birthdays few years ago both for a week, place is the absolute nuts.

  • Don't drink Bud Light, as someone suggested. If you like beer then look up some of the microbreweries. A bit off the strip, Ellis Island Brewery does dollar pints during football games, though you may be off-season. Best value in Vegas. There are a couple of brewpubs downtown.
  • Not my kind of town really, but I highly recommend doing a day trip/overnight to the grand canyon. It's stunning, and it's a really nice change of pace from Vegas. The drive there (3-4 hours) is through a desert landscape that in unlike anything I'd ever seen (and I'm from not too far away by American standards).

Try the Yard House between the Flamingo and Linq, they have about 80 beers on draft, sure you'll find one you like.

Of course if you like Bud Light then please feel free to drink it (:
  • Shooting range is quality.

For clubs either buy a "Vegas pass" which is about £40 and u pick up from airport on arrival it gives you vip and free entry to all the clubs.

Or ask taxi drivers who normally have free club passes as well
  • I go there each year with work.

Basically don't expect to sleep at all.

Agree to this re Bud Lite. Try the Pub in the Monte Carlo hotel - they have 100+ beers and used to have their own micro-brewery. If you have a hire car and fancy a drive through the desert - can recommend the town of Laughlin (pronounced Lofflin). Has many of the same hotels (namewise) as Vegas but is a bit less hectic and the slot machine returns are a higher % - to attract more people. Not a bad drive either.
  • Going again in Sept...last went 5 years ago...can't wait...very pleased to read about the brew pubs, as was worried about choice of beer (yes, it's important to me NOT to have to drink Bud/Bud Light etc)...haven't booked a hotel yet but have previously stayed at the MGM and the Bellagio... With my advancing years, I'm aiming less for 'The Hangover' and more for 'Last Vegas' this time...look forward to reading everyone's updates as they go....
  • Lads - thanks for the advice. Booked a pool party & Omnia nightclub for one night.

Also just found out the weekend we are away is the last game in the leagues...so I can drown my sorrows watching us get relegated in style.
  • Wet republic pool party at MGM
    XS Nightclub
Pleasure pit casino at the planet Hollywood hotel
Rooftop bar at the Palms/mandelay bay

    All four are musts

I think we'll be down before the last game.

Staying in New York New York, thinking Sunday day time for shopping and shooting range somewhere. thanks for any advice.

I've kept the play off dates clear on my diary.

Trawl the 'phone booths' and just generally walk the strip collecting as many 'calling cards' as you can. Then go back to your hotel room, select the one that looks the best, and treat yourself to a decent night night in your hotel room!!

You'll then be getting something for your money rather than blowin it all on a table as opposed to getting it blown all on you!! You're with nobody so you have no one to bull to. Plus you can just tell your missus that you lost it all on the slots or tables. Result!!

new york new york is probably one of my favourite spots for drinking good irish pub there called the nine fine irishmen, good guinness if you drink it, and all major sports are on in there, not too far from there you have the mgm which is pretty good fooking massive though, the bars in there arent as great vegas is one of them places that you can just walk around from hotel to hotel in various bars and still have a good time, if you do wanna do a bit of "sightseeing" without paying massive head to planet hollywood and go to the pleasure pit, casino with quite pretty girls as dealers with quite little on.
  • Is the Piano bar still there in New York hotel?

Was there for the Hatton v Mayweather fight and had a couple of great nights in there. 2 American guys on Pianos belting out OASIS covers for the drunken Brit masses.
  • Make the effort to get over to Freemont St. The Zip Wire is awesome at night then go for a steak in Andriano's.

Go for a beer outside Harrah's with the live band. We got absolutely shit-faced that day!
  • 1. Breakfast at Ceasers Palace Buffett, something stupid like 1,000 items to chose from
    2. The Gun Store and shoot the 50cal Sniper Rifle
    3. BlueMan Group
    4. Hear Attack Grill (get the stag to be spanked by the midget nurse waitress... they will do that for you)
    5. Thrill rides on top of Stratosphere
    6. Whiskey & Cugar lounge in Ceasers Emporium

    For culture:
    - Grand Canyon Tour (inc. Hoover Dam)
    - Mobster Museum
    - Neon Sign Junkyard (do that at night)
    - Cocktail in Frank Sinatra Lounge at Encore (at night they have a big jazz band and gets packed) - but it's $$$$$$
    - Go to and check out some of the Pawn stores

Been to Vegas four times. One of my favourite places, you can do as little or as much as you like.
  • oh and @Bigfatpete theres a rollercoaster at new york new york connected to the hotel thats worth a go.

Done exactly the same before. Went on a helicopter tour of the grand canyon during the day, would recommend that to anyone
