Yes I was a share holder

Back in the days of the Portacabins , I bought 500 SHARES for £500 .

I remember while waiting in hut, Bowyer and Challenor were called in, both looked a little sheepish ( I believe they were caught smoking cannabis).

Three or four years later when I was hard up, I sold for them up for £238.

I just loved the club and always will ( but not the present owner)

Around the time Millwall Shares were floated, and then sank to 1p a share. I remember having a laugh at the time.

Does any fan have their recollections of buying and selling Charlton Shares. (Good or Bad)

I too was a Charlton shareholder. It was never about making money and my bit wasn't likely to have made much of a difference, it was purely symbolic and one of the best investments I've ever made. Still got the framed share certificate which is clearly priceless.

I was nearly also a millwall shareholder at one stage years ago after a night out that may have included a quantity of alcohol. The guy who was my stockbroker at the time was with us and I mentioned that I had an odd £300 in dividends sitting in the account doing nothing and I thought buying some millwall at around 0.25p might be worth a punt. He looked at me as if I was mad or drunk, probably right on both counts, and said to ring him tomorrow and get a thousand Amstrad at 30p instead if I want to buy something as they look undervalued, so I did and after a while watched them start to go up, slowly at first and then go all the way up to £5 where I sold them (though I think they went up to £6 at one stage afterwards) at which level I was more than pleased my moment of madness/drunkeness didn't prevail.

I was a shareholder, think I had 750 of them, never sold them, they were written off in 2008. Always thought as a shareholder we should have had a discount on season tickets or something.

Yup, I was a shareholder. The best thing I got out of it was the signed team photo (in front of me on the wall). Some Charlton Legends there, and it was framed by Garry Nelson's picture framing business!

The only time the shares were worth more than the original share price was for a few days after we won the Play Off Final at Wembley in 1998.

The original share price was 80p and season ticket holders got a discounted price of 75p per share. I believe that's right.

Lost £300 notes on it, but that's life. However the share certificate is in a safe place.

Sounds like you got back £238 more than most of us!

I was a shareholder too. I had 1000 of them, never sold them, they were written off in 2008 - along with everyone else who held shares. Always thought as a shareholder we should have had a discount on season tickets or some recognition. Don't think the club ever said an official "Thank You" to all the fans who let them just disappear. Still have the stock certificate in a frame.

I'm sure my certificate is somewhere safe in London. It was still worth something when I moved to Thailand.

Yes, it slightly annoyed me that shareholders never got any benefits, not even prior access to away tickets.

And then they were written off, thanks

Still have my various share certificates despite them being worthless.

Will never forgive Murray for doing that without even making fans aware of what he intended to do. A lifer even bought 1,000 of them just to get into the shareholders meeting each year - about three months before Murray did the dirty.

A shareholder certificate requires the full name of the shareholder, Benjamin.

And I thought I was mad getting 3000!

May I remind you all that RM had repeatedly warned us not to consider the shares as an investment and not to expect a profit.
    Bought 2000.
After a very bad night in a London casino, sold them the following day. Made a net profit of about £200.
Thank goodness my big loss was at an appropriate time.

It is less impressive than it seems.

I had 500 and was then asked to "buy" the remainder just before the shareholding was wrapped up help out one of the ex-directors. I think the price was a lunch at Chapter 1.

Had some shares, never expected anything back from them, except the pleasure of - on the very odd occasion when some smart arse pulled me up on using the word "we" when referring to the club - being able to say "Actually I am a shareholder...".

I think Roland has followed that model ;-)

    Rd just followed on then

I had 800 shares till 2008 I blame Murray for very bad decisions after Curbs left and he is still making bad decisions now.

I seem to remember going in twice and putting £1000 into shares in the club. Yes, think we were very poorly treated in 2008 when they just cancelled our holding, without so much as a thank you.

Lost £1000 and got absolutely nothing from my investment to save the club. Looking at today, shouldn't have bothered.
