  • Yeah fair stoppage. Takam proved he's very tough, but was taking a battering there
  • You could see that ending badly if he hadn’t stopped it. But as always you’d prefer it to go on till he couldn’t anymore.
  • Bollox stoppage really.
Takam slipped a lot of those shots in the last flurry.
  • That was a shit stoppage fucking wank that ref was wrong
  • Disagree... It is a sport, geezer could easily have ended up like nick Blackwell then
  • Take your hat off to Takan

    He took every punch

    Absolute fair play to him
  • Those 10/15 seconds Takam was vulnerable, Joshua was in the state for 4 solid rounds against Wlad.
Imagine AJ was stopped like that back in May.
    Uproar.
  • Also, all the talk of a rematch with Whyte, I'd rather see a rematch with Takam.
Would be interesting to see without the cuts etc.

This is what drove me mad about the Groves stoppage v Froch. The names or favourites are "given every opportunity" the b side is "protected" Groves pretty much performed jaw surgery on Carl Froch in the 5th 6th and 6th rounds yet the first time he sagged he was stopped. Fucking bullshit. This wasn't some Nick Blackwell repeat tonight, Joshua didn't land anything as horrible as he can do because Takam is a slippery, professional heavyweight boxer. And given how Joshua was missing and skimming punches prior to landing a decent one I felt Takam deserved the opportunity to take his opportunity.

Utterly atrocious card of boxing, how the 3 heavyweight champs can all be undefeated tells anyone all they need to know. Wilder v Joshua or Parker should be mandated

No way was that a nick Blackwell situation , takam done the same tonight as in every other fight he has been in

The ref wanted to stop it after the first cut but couldn’t

Takam has head and body movement in that whole 10 Sec burst from AJ and was not hit with anything serious

It was almost as if keeping AJ perfect record was the main reason

The clash of heads took away AJ chance of an early blast out with his nose broken

Learn your lesson AJ 18 stone is not your weight somewhere between 16-10-17-3 is more his perfect weight and if he don’t then both wilder and Tyson beat him

Tyson beats him all day long based on the last two fights
  • The right hand sends Takam back towards the ropes AJ throws 3 more shots. All 3 miss. The ref stops the fight.
  • My friend was Takam's conditioning coach. I'm don't know much about boxing, but it appears that he was pretty fit, so I'm pleased about that at least!
  • Went up to the fight, probably one of the roughest crowds I’ve seen at a boxing match, was mainly the look at me I work out crowd, issue is now is people are there to see aj rather than boxing, Katie taylor was the best fight and people weren’t interested just kept chanting oh Anthony Joshua throughout her fight which was v irritating, the stadium want fit for purpose, no queuing system for drinks just resulted in a free for all at the bars, pretty low amount of security so a lot of fights were happening outside of the ring, went for a piss and there was a bird in the men’s with the door open shouting I’m having a shit.

We went to a concert there a few years back (Oasis , foo fighters and others) and the bar situation that day was a joke , luckily a friend of mine was writing the review for the Guardian so as well as my normal pass I had one to get me to the top tier where the journos were . This meant I could get 8 beers a time without queuing . Only trouble was I then had to walk past loads of very thirsty roid heads queuing downstairs who looked like they were going to jump me for my ale.
  • Fury fanboys still living off of his one glory night in Germany which was literally all they have too talk about. He beat Klitschko in the worst heavyweight title fight of my entire lifetime. I’m sure the stats showed Fury landing something like 23% of the 100 punches he threw and that is considered the prime version of Fury... I’m far from convinced that he beats AJ

oh and in addition, had a lot of "fucking wall" up there.
  • I saw on interview with Hearn where he said he's trying to sign Tyson Fury to matchroom!

I'm pretty sure he wouldn't beat AJ.

Don't underestimate Tyson though - he's a much better boxer than most observers credit him being.

But he's also a fat fucker who hasn't fought for nearly 2 years and has had only 5 fights since 2012. Hardly in prime form.

Since Joshua made his debut (and has had 20 fights), Fury has fought only 4 times.

I was referring to a fit Fury - clearly not as he is right now.
  • was reading an article this morning that sees likely fights;

parker - early next year ( matchroom do have a booking on 3rd feb for 02 arena ) possible whtye vs wilder on same card??
wilder - would have to be wembley or states/dubai
fury - would think cardiff or wembley again.

the thing is now aj is such a brand them 3 fights could be at wembley and sell out everytime.
  • Don't see Fury ever being fit again
  • Isn't Wilder trying to price himself out of the Whyte fight?
  • Don't see Fury ever being fit again

    Me neither.

    Never in a million years.
That would need to be PPV on its own for Hearn to pay the costs. Would be impossible to pay all the fighters from 1 cards income. Especially with Wilder wanting $7million

  • Didn't agree with the stoppage but do agree with some people that the ref was looking to stop ASAP due to that cut.
Werent one of AJ's best fights by a long stretch but was good to see him pop the jab a bit more. Credit to Takam, the guy can take a whack!
I would like to see Takam v Whyte now to really prove if he should get a world title shot, personally don't think Whyte is good enough but if he beats whats put in front of him then cant argue with a shot being handed to him, even if he does come crashing down!
Katie Taylor is a machine! The argentine lass ate some good shots and give it back but Taylor prevailed against a decent opponent.

Matchroom need to step it up, why aren't they showing Buatsi & Okolie is beyond me, 2 good prospects need there fair share of the TV showing.
A more competitive undercard would be great aswell!

Regarding Fury...I think him slimming down now and having a couple of tune up fights wont be any good for him. Hatton fought regularly with his weight ballooning 7 losing it just as quick and he said himself it messed his body up. Too much weight to lose and fight for a world title next year, needs at least a year to really get back into the swing of things.
  • The early stopage of the AJ fight.

No coverage of the Buatsi or Okilie fights.

No coverage of the Cordina fight despite it being on in the gap prior to the AJ fight.

Constanty missing what goes on in the corners between rounds in most fights due to all the ads , even box nation doesn't do this I think.

Dave Allen not fighting at all.

Not showing all the ring walks as once again they were at another ad break and the AJ one the music stopped way before he got to the ring.

Oh and the mic cutting out while they interviewed Takam.

Total and utter shit show all round really.

You cant hit what you cant catch

I believe tyson would beat AJ and based on the Klitchko fight and the Takam fight i have no reason to change that view
