  • Not that great a fight tbh. Close, but not a classic by any means. Promoters will want the trilogy but not sure that will have won over many casual fans
  • 116-112?? Interesting
  • 116-112 is farcical. Fuck off was that 8-4.
  • very wide scorecard across 3 judges, thought it was far closer.
  • Radio commentators shut right up by that decision
  • Guess if you give all the close ones early on to Usyk it starts to get wider
  • Wasn't close. Usyk was handily better.
  • Hmm. Not sure I agree. 116/115 maybe you could argue either way but no way that was THAT wide a margin.
  • I think Uzyk did just a little bit more and that’s why he won but Fury was much better in this fight than the first .
  •  Quite shocked at that.
Thought if it went the distance and Tyson had a shocker they'd still give it to him. But he did pretty well.

  • Is the surprise the lack of obvious corruption?

Seems the commentary had it's effect. Fury flicked a jab occasionally while Usyk pushed the pace, hit him at will to the body and struck the most damaging blows.
  • BBC commentator said most people around him scored it 114-114. To be fair, everyone sat near him will have been watching from the same angle as him so maybe not that surprising.
  • 116-112 is farcical. Fuck off was that 8-4.
    I don’t think it’s farcical at all.

It was a very close fight, but Uysk clearly won it. I had Fury needing a knock out in the last round to win.

Theres many farcical scores in boxing, we saw one on this card - but this was not.
    This
  • There is no way Fury only won 4 rounds.
  • Dubois making himself look an absolute whopper there.
  • There is no way Fury only won 4 rounds.
Watch the fight on mute. Fury didn't control any of the rounds other than maybe 2 or 3. May have sneaked another 1 or 2 of the close ones.

But Usyk was in control for the majority of the fight.

    Well quite.

I found it interesting on DAZN how they made it sound like Fury was *really* in control the first few rounds - and then when the punch stats came up Uysk had actually landed more than him!

    I think it is.
Scorecard was a bit off though
  • That’s what makes boxing scoring so judgemental

I watched the fight in the pub and everyone thought draw or Fury by 1

Usyk clearly has a way of winning the close rounds

Fair play to him he’s a machine and that was the best Fury tonight

I only scored Fury four rounds, but I scored two even, so 116-114. It seems like the judges gave all the really close rounds to Usyk. On another day they could have gone the other way.

Usyk won by 3 rounds for me as the cleaner scoring came from the Ukrainian but AI thought it was 118 for Usyk and the 3 human judges thought it was 116/112 so that was unusual in itself.

Fury was better in this fight but Usyk has too much nous and a 3rd fight will be milking it.
  • Also only gave Fury 4, wouldn't have objected to 5. Think a lot of the cards come down to if you gave any evens out.

Correct judging, after the real robbery in the Fisher-Allen fight.
  • I thought 4 rounds was too wide to be honest but its miles away from the most inept judging I've seen with boxing. I think Fury had an epiphany at some point around the 9th round where he was just lost, ran out of ideas. Not dissimilar to us bowling at Graeme Smith circa 2008

The scoring for the Allen v Fisher fight was another disgrace, predictable but still. And what will eventually kill boxing once Eddie Hearn and the other promoters have picked all the meat off the bones will be the IOC deciding that boxing is just too bent for them and permanently exlcudes it from the Olympics.

    .
  • Usyk won that. Wasn’t a classic by any means.

Interesting to see what Fury does now, I’ve always feared for the moment he steps away. I think he needs to stay involved in the sport for his own sanity.
