Really enjoyed the second half, as others have said if only we had a fully fit Diarra and Vetokele all season, this squad now has quality and shouldn't be where we are but that's the club's fault, says all you need to know.

On a sour note, does anyone know how to report another fan to the club? - every week he is making comments whenever I join with the protests, yesterday was "if you don't sit down, I'll put you down myself", he is also constantly racist and abusive. Yesterday he purposely called Diarra, "Diarrhoea" and instead of saying "our number 2, Yun", he said, "our Chinese takeaway on the left hand side". He is an arrogant, opinionated bastard. I lost my head with it all yesterday and had an argument with him, my girlfriend had a go at him too, but I can't tolerate him saying things, being verbally abusive towards me and the players, and being racist all the time to the players. No one else says anything because he's a ring leader and sits in the lower west. I want to write to the club but I don't know how the best way and who to contact, that's if they do anything at all.

Overall, a good day and the spirit of the team was evident which shows hope. Maybe too late but we have got to carry on just as we are.

a ring leader and sits in the lower west

sorry but that made me laugh
  • I'm not sure I agree with the suggestions that JBG doesn't care, the way he (entirely understandably) harranged the useless referee after he twice, within a couple of minutes, failed to play an advantage when we had been fouled wasn't that of someone not wanting to be there

Sorry - just can't agree with you on this one.

I take your point about his reactions when the ref failed to play an advantage. But I'd also offer up his reaction when he scored - just stood there, barely a flicker of emotion.

He wants out and is counting the days down.

He wants out and is counting the days down.

I suspect that after this season he is one of a number who are counting the days down before they can plead with their agents to get them out.

Does anyone believe that ANY of the players will still be here next season. Maybe Harriot, Lennon and Pope - but I wouldn't even bet on them being around.

Harriott is out of contract so will walk.

The other two you mention will still be under contract I believe.

I saw a load of fans leaving in the 87th minute.

    Why do people do this?

The game is 1-1 and we're all over them with 3+ minutes to go. Why bother turning up if you're going to leave before the end?!?!?!

JBG gets way too much stick... He is arguably the best player to play for us since the prem days

Class, class, class... Well deserved too. Made even better by the fact I backed us to win at 14/1 after 90 mins!

    But we only won 2-1.

We have a one year option on Harriott

Did you not know about the 87 minute protest? This is the traditional protest that has been ongoing since 1988 against the local traffic conditions.

In a nutshell, THIS is why we must keep the protests coming whatever the results on the pitch.

It's not just about this season.

It's the future under this regime.

Fanny you're stretching it here, can't believe you think there's a future under this regime.

Is it Harriott or the Brum defender who kicks the ball to JBG for the first goal?

I'm fairly sure it gives an attendance of 0 at the end...

Almost as accurate as the club's official number.

I would say that it was the Birmingham defender, JBG does a good shot but it was deflected. It was slightly fortunate in the circumstances but came at the right time. There also has to be a desire to get forward and Harriott had that. I think that Harriott should get the assist.

I think Riga did well starting the second half with Lookman, but you could see Birmingham were there for the taking and Big Mak should have come on 10 minutes earlier at least. Ok we got the points in the end, but he has to be braver - starting from Ipswich on Tuesday - every game -no matter who is it against is a must win game - we have to be posing a threat and creating chances from the start. If we are nil nil at half time but not creating, we will lose it at some point - Riga has to roll the dice a bit more! We still almost certainly won't make it, but you have to try to win every game. The quality of the side is such that it can compete now with the better teams.

First time I've seen us win live since August, I missed the Wednesday game and watched Boro on TV.

I always used to go watch the football but thanks to this ownership I now go for the matchday experience - the protests as well as the game. Great work by CARD again, the three statements in recent weeks show it's making a difference.

Thought the team generally played well apart from Harriott. Not through a lack of effort and he's not a striker but he gave the ball away nearly every time he had it. He was either miscontrolling the ball, getting outmuscled, playinga bad pass or making the wrong decision. A decent hold up player in his place could have made a huge difference. I'd like to see Sanogo or Lookman take his place.

We have a stronger team now and I think we'll get a few more good results, but I can't see it being enough. It's taken far too long to get to this point in the season after so long with a weak squad and a ridiculous choice of head coach.

Sounds odd I know, but there's a small group of older men by the directors box, when he doesn't say anything they won't, he's a disgusting, stuck up prick.

    -----

Lookman must play more than he has, whether he was at his best or not, the game turned on its head when he came on, the Birmingham defence got scared and we started creating very good chances.

It does beg the question of who in that starting eleven yesterday, will actually still be with us next season? That's the worrying thing..

Delighted to see JBG happy after a pat on the back from the Boss and a crucial last minute win - so he should be.

I believe all players are happy when the crowd are positive, animated and driving the team on, as per the second half today.

I'd like to see all Charlton players happy all of the time.

It cannot be easy keeping a smile on your face when the crowd are in "that mood" of negativism and it is the same at many, many clubs where playing has become akin to the Colosseum in Rome where the crowd give the thumbs down and the gladiator has the lions turned on him.

If JBG is off to Norwich and they start to do badly again then he may well experience similar vitriol from the baying fans - except it might be a lot easier to take the pain when earning 5 times what he does at Charlton.

For the record, I have mates at Everton who tell me that even Ross Barkley gets crucified for a single bad pass and if he lets his head drop because of it, the crowd get exponentially more nasty as his mistakes increase.

I have mates at Sheff Utd where every home game, 18,000 expectant, adoring fans come away feeling deflated beyond their worst nightmares as they are served up yet another pile of dross from an overpaid, under-performing squad of players (in the crowd's eyes, that is). That is what is likely to happen at Charlton if we get relegated and with no money behind us but with a much smaller fan base.

I do feel a bit sorry for Guy Luzon as this Club is short of funding and the horrific injury crisis was his downfall at a Club where buying better players to replace injured stars on full salaries is not an option.

We will all miss JBG and his like if the key players move on so maybe we should have appreciated what we have and rue the injury crisis that set us back so badly.

As somebody said earlier, had Riga been here in November then we would likely still be a Championship side next season and key players staying with us.

One thing's for sure, going down is not going to help keep our stars - lets hope the Riga miracle drags us out of the mire.

Not sure Lookman can do a full 90 but agree he should do as much as he possibly can no matter

Of course he can do ninety minutes.
Would like to see him do 90

Anyone who thinks JBG is unhappy just from his body language has never been to Iceland. Stoic doesn't begin to do them justice.
