  • Mccarthy is said to be the next Villa boss. Hopefully that will unsettle them a bit.

For Ipswich fans the tickets are only £27.50 so why £32.50 for away fans?

I assume the £27.50 tickets are for a different stand/different quality of seat. The away section is in a side stand (well it was last time I was there) rather than behind the goal
The cheaper tickets are in the lower tier, including behind the goal. It's the same £32.50/£35 in the upper tier behind the goals. They actually charge £40 for block 0 (£37.50 in advance) which I think we've been allocated in the past when we've travelled in sufficient numbers and this isn't even their most expensive match pricing - for a "grade A" match away fans are changed £37 rising to £39.50 and those in block O and similar are asked to pay £43 rising to £45.50. That's £15.50 more than next season's Premier League limit, I think!

I'd assume that a lot of their fans are season-ticket holders.
  • Was looking at this game as a standard 3-0 loss opportunity, but an Ipswich-supporting mate was saying today that we've got a chance as Daryl Murphy is doubtful and without him they're a bit blunt up front. Also said that they've not been playing well recently.

Ordinarily a 'settle for a draw' game all-over for us, but perhaps not unwinnable.
  • I just hope we approach it positively and try to shock them. If we do, I think we might get some joy!

I imagine there will be pressure on the FL to adopt a similar policy to that of the PL (even allowing for the vastly smaller TV money). It'll look ridiculous if Championship away fans are paying more to visit Ipswich than PL away fans to visit Chelsea or Arsenal.
  • We've got to counter attack like it's 1944.

If Riga picks Reza I will scream. We need to bloody win this - no more of this stupid Reza experiment. Lookman will cause them all sorts of problems. A fit Igor will complement him (unlikely to play though).
  • Hope we start Reza.

Reza and Mak to start then. I bet Mak still has nightmares about the last time he was matched up against Chambers.
  • Reza and Makienok up top.

Lookman and Harriott on the left and right wing respectively.

Bauer and Diarra in the middle.

    Fox RB
    Motta LB
    Fanni LCB
    Teixera RCB.

    Pope in sticks.

    Sorted.

  • As stated above Ipswich's main attaching threat is from corners and long throws plus crosses when they get into forward positions. If we can defend theses properly no reason we can't get a result here

    Oh dear

Nothing is a settle for a draw game. Fact is we are down unless we pretty much win every game left.

Could be playing the top 6 away from home for the next 6 games and they would still be must win.
  • East Anglia has smattering of professional clubs, most of which are at least 50-60 miles apart. As such you get a club like Ipswich with a huge catchment area practically to themselves (apologies to any Colchester fans reading), and so they take advantage of that by charging a lot more then a similar size club in London could get away with.

Still nearly 35 rips for a 2nd tier football game is robbery.
  • Ipswich are a typical McCarthy team,
all kick, bite and b-ll-ck, lets hope we don't get
    too many injuries!
  • I'd start this one with Mak and Igor up front, Lookman will have lumps kicked out of him by McCarthy's team. Harriott left wing, JBG right. Diarra and Cousins in the middle.

I think they'd be more vulnerable to pace and movement, a Mick McCarthy coached team should cope with Mak all day long
  • Assuming everyone who was involved on Saturday is fit and healthy (i.e. I guess Bauer is still out)

    ----------Pope

    Solly--Fanni--Tex--Fox

    ----Cousins--Diarra

    Lookman--JoBerg--Messi

    ---------Igor

    Pace on the break.

Keep Mak back for the late, stick it in the mixer desperation fest if we still need a goal (or more), not like he had a good time last time we played Ipswich is it?

Shut Reza in one of the lockers in the changing room.

Good point - I think the draw at Forest hit us hard at the beginning of the season because they were allowed by the ref to set out to injure us to stop us. Despite the league positions, we have a much more skillful side- they are a side set up to a blueprint. If you are beating them they will not hesitate to kick you! Problem is, it often works!

  • I'm sure I saw the team coach (kings ferry) broken down on the M25 about an hour ago.

Makienok shouldn't be anywhere near this fixture!! He was utterly embarrassed at The Valley when they came to town! His psychological composition seems to be such that he will never recover from that and be terrified of them (not to mention that he's actually not very good!).
  • He is a useful option - I'd like him on the bench, even for this one.
  • Poor Mak gets dogs abuse yet is 18x the player Reza is who gets the odd groan.
  • Any pairing from Harriot, Igor and Lookman or all three will cause havoc with the Ipswich defence...
  • Would that be top scorer Makienok? Who has missed half the season?

Ok, agreed he's not the best target man ever but he's not that bad. FFS cut him some slack you jokers.

The problem is not that Mak isn't very good, the problem is that when he plays he plays on his own up front as a target man and one of two things happens:

Either he wins the ball and the ref blows his whistle for a foul; or the ball comes straight back and our defence is put under pressure again.

Play Mak and Sanongol together upfront and it would work, otherwise save him for a late substitution

Funnily as Tex has scored from a corner twice in the last 3 matches, and Callum's 2 goals at Brentford both came from poorly defended crosses, the same could be said of us!
  • I expect another 3-0 defeat but hope I'm wrong.
  • Sanogo for Harriott, 1-1
