To be leading a three horse race, the race has to have started. The lack of acknowledgement from the club sounds like the race hasn't started. But if the horses are in the starting gate then it may do soon.
Well it's more hope than I have had since November so I will take it.
It is the hope that kills you.
I am suspicious of somebody who is in the middle of a multi million pound take over claiming to be leading the race when there is no race that has been publicly acknowledged.
It really pisses some sellers off when this bidder or that opens their mouth up about a process that is probably just in the first round, if started, with bidders yet to put in non-binding offers.
Then normally there is a round 2 with say two or three of three or four potential buyers only in it. They do further due diligence after which maybe binding offers come in.
Possibly go to final exclusive round where price not expected to move much as long as no hidden nightmare emerges.
Not sure how complex a football club is to sell. Last business my but of the organisation I work for bought cost us £1.5bn and took six months. Quite a lot more complex though and I reckon you could get Charlton sold within 4-6 weeks.
If I were the club I wouldn't even announce the process until I had a binding offer.
If we are being bought by another consortium, as long as Murray says they are OK, then it will be fine. Sorry, forgot, he always says they are right for the club, providing they agree to give him he's £7m
Just to be clear, in fairness to him and others, he's not owed £7m - that's the combined total for seven former directors.
presumably Murray would ask for the same again of any potential buyer, ie to be paid back what he's owed should we get to the Prem?
Elliot went into business with someone who he thought was an old friend who turned out to be a con man. Okay the language was unacceptable especially from some one who's built his career on anti racism but the man was emotionally hurt and just lost a huge amount of money. I can't forgive the word but I also don't think a private message from an emotionally charged situation should follow a man around for the rest of his life.

It always seems a bit unprofessional to me.
If I were involved in one of these deals I would want to keep quiet about it until it was all wrapped up and I would rather expect the other side to as well. Not least, as a buyer, I wouldn't want to alert other potential interested parties and risk sparking a bidding war.
It also just generally seems a much classier way to go about business and the club could certainly do with regaining a bit of class and professionalism.
Graham signed my autograph book when i was 11 at the valley club back in 1975 always remember him giving me a big smile , also got more charlton legend's Phil warman and Jimmy Giles autograph

Murray is just over a third of the £7m. They all agreed to roll it over before. They might do the same or might cut a deal, who knows, but ultimately £7m removes them from the equation whatever their position.
If Graham Tutt and Paul Elliot are Murray's preferred options over Varney then if either of these deals happen we need to make sure that once the takeovers are complete Murray doesn't remain on the board and is promptly is kicked off AND banned from The Valley, he's shown his true colours during this whole farce.
Come to think of it there are quite a few names in this regime that I want fired and banned from Charlton once RD goes.
It would be great to get rid of Murray and forget all about Varney, Elliott, Lawrence, Curbishley etc etc and start afresh completely with new people.
I am aware that beggars can't be choosers. Just really hope that RD sells, and at least sells to half-decent people. With no interest/strings being pulled by the bastard.
Graham Tutt 'could' certainly have been a Charlton legend, he was an outstanding young goalkeeper. If he manages to pull this off (or even create some sort of bidding war) I know that sounds a bit far fetched BUT we are a great club with a great ground and great supporters and great potential. He will indeed be looked upon as a Legend!
I've heard from someone 'connected' to the club that any talk of selling is nonsense and RD & KM will carry us into the bright future of L1 non-league.

This is what I don't understand; why would Roly be quiet about selling whilst potential buyers are making noises. If I were the vendor I'd wan't as many people to know as possible in the precise hopes of starting a bidding war. I'd expect those wanting to buy to be the ones wanting to keep it quiet. But then, I've never sold anything more expensive than a second-hand Mondeo, so what do I know?
I have had this strange thought going around and around in my head. Paul Elliott is a front for the spivs who have a new backer and want back in. Can somebody tell me this is utter nonsense please.
Sorry Ken. Is Roy going to explain ? I have no idea what this is about.
Graham is promoting an interest in buying the club from the US. I've been in touch with him for a while on other matters. He's a good guy, however it's unclear what the substance of this approach might be. I don't think it has had any traction internally to date.
Yep that is my understanding of the position, mind you in my case, one facebook conversation is hardly an in depth understanding is it.? And the info I received was rather vague!
Funny, you should mention the ageing rockers, 'killeranflash' because 'Dave' represented quite a few bands in there day, which of course was the interest for me. Roy Harper ( not that roy on here!) and Pink Floyd apparently, amongst a host of other names.
Oh and talking of 'flash' he 'rocked up' as well......but no 'killer' I am afraid, or jerry lee Lewis I

I really don't want a bidding war. Whoever wins will need all the money they've got to clear this mess up.
Roly will sell to the highest bidder or whoever provides him with the best outcome. They may mean more upfront cash rather than cash on certain milestones.
The opportunity to sell to an owner who has the best interests of the club at heart as well as offering a good business deal came and went when Murray and Co sold to the spivs.

No I think it is Les Read, which I stupidly had not recognised.!
I have only met 'Roy' once before at a Sam Bartram event at Erith library, but on Monday he had a very close member of his family die on Monday.
Come to it I have only met John Rooke once before, but he is a lovely man, who tried to get the players 20th event return at the valley including Curbs and the team, but was frustrated at the club at the time and there attitude from the 'spivs' who were simply not interested. It was of course when 'we' launched the supporters trust as well as held the return the Valley event at Bartrams. (Bromley Addicks and the Late Bernard Wickham were very helpful at the time, as well as others) I say 'we' because I was one individual, part of a team, which I no longer am a board memmber of, but do the trust news, and take photographs.
Despite all the evidence to the contrary, Roland must understand that at this point all he's doing is throwing away more money.
He might want £38m, but if he keeps hanging out for that, with no takers, he'll have to keep loaning the club more money to stay afloat, unless he really believes he has a pipeline of £5m players coming through the academy.
The worry would be that he thinks he can raise a bunch of money from selling JBG and Lookman, enough to fund next years losses
With FFP in L1 he will have to put in real money and that will hurt him.
I admit my grasp of FFP is shaky, but, worryingly, I think he could cut the playing wage budget to 60% of turnover, and continue to fund the club through loans. I don't think FFP prohibits loans as such, it's just that loans don't count towards turnover in the percentage of turnover calculation.
It's the wage limit to 60% of turnover that will greatly limit what RD can do. Loans don't count in turnover so what could he spend the loans on? However, a gift (equity) is included in turnover so he could cover extra spending that way. Also, however, he could also use FFP has an excuse to downsize the club still further.
Yes, sorry, having read my post back, I haven't expressed myself very clearly. My concern is that he won't, as it were, inflate turnover through injecting equity, and will reduce expenditure on wages to 60% of actual turnover, whilst funding the redevelopment of the academy/training ground (if he decides to continue with it) and player acquisitions (if he actually spends any money on players) through loans from Starprix.
With FFP in League One, my understanding is loans are set against turnover. Ie they would be included as part of the wages. This is to discourage loading clubs up with debt. An owner can inject equity.
For a new relegated club the figure the wages to turnover ratio for the first season, the percentage is 75%.
He will have to inject equity into the club and not loans and Duchatelet will totally hate that.
It would not be surprise for Duchatelet to stick to the FFP league one structure as point of principle for him to retain stability. This will result in a threadbare team, with the Under 21s as backbone of the team.
This contradicts Meire's statement of intent in getting back to the Championship but you always have to expect the opposite of what Meire says and what it actually means for the club. Meire's comment about belittling the impact of supporters contributions at Dublin, 'it's just a 1/3 of the revenue stream' is going to come back and haunt her. I doubt suppose that she thought Charlton was going to be relegated then.

Surprised to see some former players who are still playing, like Konch and Lisbie! I'm guessing the guy with the white beard is Paul Mortimer?

We still love in hope though.
Chances are, if it's happening, that we will be the last to be told by two sheds.
The race is on! Tutt's consortium (in blue) take the lead.

Mind you, he will be a legend if he comes riding in to pull this one out of the fire!
