Getting to the Valley from Kent tomorrow

So once again the trains up from Kent to Charlton are fudged tomorrow. I have had the unpleasant experience of a rail replacement bus between Dartford and Plumstead once before and am not keep on repeating it.
I come from Chatham and it should be 45 mins by train. Does anyone have any bright ideas on how to get to the ground.
Ideally I would drive to somewhere where I can get a direct train (or maybe 2 trains) to Charlton. Don't wanna drive all the way if I can avoid it as would like a pint or three.
Many thanks.

Train to Eltham, Blackheath??

I'm coming up from Broadstairs and will have to get the highspeed to Stratford Intl, DLR to Woolwich and then train to Charlton.
It costs more but is much quicker. You could do the same from Chatham. It's only 35 mins to Stratford; 23 mins on the DLR and 6 mins Woolwich to Charlton.1 -
Will have a look... cheers. May come back to you on which bus to get.Baldybonce said:Train to Eltham, Blackheath??
