From the CAFC bulletin for those that haven't seen it

Addicks boss Alan Pardew has hinted he is close to completing a signing - and hopes to announce the identity of the player before the end of the season.
Charlton take on Liverpool in the final fixture of the season on Sunday. But as well as preparing for the game at Anfield, Pardew has already turned his thoughts to next season and recruiting new players.
"We're very close to signing a player and I'd like to make an announcement before the end of Sunday's game," he told the national media this afternoon.
"I want to make a point to the Charlton fans that we're acting quickly and positively."

    how can he have organised a deal so quickly and why bother doing it at liverpool?

    gotta be carson! he's happy to stay and get first team football, seemed genuine enough.

    Surely if it was Carson, he would be announcing the signing before the start of the game, not the end so that he could play for us.

    The problem with announcing that you are going to announce something is that everyone gets carried away with no facts to limt their imagination. When he then announces a positive and exciting signing, everyone is disappopinted because they hoped it would be Carson.

    i am not hoping or expecting it to be cason - i will be over the moon if it is - but let's see.

    It is obviously someone out of contract at a PL club

    Fowler or Carson either one of them i would be very pleased with signing. Obviously prefer Carson though.

    Maybe this new signing is Guttridge of Leyton Orient, Charlton have been linked with him, and he will be available on a free transfer.

    I wouldn't have thought it was him. We were linked with him when he was at Cambridge. Probably his agent just bigging him up.

    i reckon it's jarvis but praying it's carson! i'm not sure if we can sign anybody other than on a pre contract agreement before the end of sunday's game, so maybe it is carson as we could turn his loan deal into a permanent. i'm just really hopeful it's carson but jarvis wouldn't be a bad buy either!

    be amazed if it's eastwood after the statements southend have issued, but look at varney's comments just before dowie got the boot!

    Carson would seem logical although other clubs such as Arsenal have shown an interest, so will Liverpool rush to any deal with us?

    How about Song signing on a permanent deal?

    Think Arsenal are meant to be signing a Polish keeper, but you'd imagine others will also be interested given the amount of shot-stopping practice he's had this year!

    Not sure about Song - thought he started well but faded in recent weeks. Might be different as a 'proper' signing of course.

    what about lee hendrie? he's the sort of player who would fight if you were 2-0 down at burnley! of course he would fight before, during and after games!
