  • Any boxers other than Khan actually pro (pun not intended) professional boxers in the Olympics?

Not normally . That's what annoys me most if this story is true . He's a professionsl and olympic boxing should be purely for amateurs .

reported he wants to box at the Olympics for Pakistan rather then Great Britain?

    Right or wrong?

Personally, I think it's a bit of a snub to the country that supported and helped him become the man he is today, but that's just me.

Professional boxing should be excluded from the Olympics .. Simple!

If I had choices I'd represent India in cricket all other sports England. Although there are enough English who have told me I'm not welcome in this country of my birth for me to decide otherwise just to please them.
  • nothing new, look at all the English born footballers with West Indies born parents who have opted to play for the island/nation of their parent's birth when they have not been selected for England .. same thing with South African born cricketers coming to England and playing for us. Khan's decision has shades of the long ago 'cricket test' advocated by Norman Tebbit .. as for Khan's decision, so far as I am concerned he can shove off to Pakistan and stay there .. but of course he won't as he seems pretty settled in the USA I believe
  • He'll probably end up like a starfish anyway.

Can I ask why India at Cricket and England for the rest?
  • Pick and choose who to represent at the olympics, sounds ridiculous.

As another poster said, once you have picked, you should stick.

Pro's in boxing has tainted the event at the olympics.

At a guess I'd say it's because cricket is the number one sporting passion in India and from his/her comments Kap10 would appear to be of Indian heritage.

We will end up with over the hill pros who still carry the 'star' tag just to boost ratings.

As for Amir, he can do one, he could have represented Pakistan when he was an amateur but obviously didn't because it would not have given him the exposure to become a very rich pro.

Representing England has unfortunately become a flag of convenience for too many sport stars. Yes I do mean you KP!
