Oztumer was associated with us as a young footballer. He and Jack Munns are of a similar height, although Munns is slightly taller. Erhan was a legend at Dulwich, and highly regarded by their fans even now.

Was this the bloke we was linked with when Wilder was going to come in?

    Yes he was.
So not really a Slade signing then, one of his "top targets" who happened to be linked with us a month before. hmmmm
So two managers can't share an appreciation of a player?
Of course they can but when you have control freaks who own the club and 99% of the time decide who's coming in regardless of who the manager is begins to ring a few alarm bells.

Looks a positive start, but I'm not getting excited until I see who else comes in, and who goes.

I'd happily take Ben Alnwick off that list. It seems Hendo is set to leave. You need two keepers to compte for a place and cober injuries/form. He would be an ideal more experianced keeper to compete with the Pope.

Didnt he only play five minutes under Russell Slade when he left us before he had to take more time out?

We could go for the shortest average height in League 1. New signing policy. Makes the ground feel bigger.

If we keep Lookman as well, we could have Ricky Holmes 5'8, ademola Lookman 5'8, Erin oztuma 5'3.

Unlikely to be playing a hoof it up to the big man game....

Under this regime? Hoofing it up to the big man is exactly what will be attempted, only with our Lord and Master M. Roly neglecting to provide a big man to hoof it to!... then firing the coach I mean manager when it doesn't work.

I'm disappointed we've not seen FM16 stats for these players yet. Come on chaps - this isn't good enough

    I forgot Nicky Ajose 5'6.

If we sign all the players rumoured to be near final buys, Solly will be a giant in the team.

I've not been this excited about a Charlton signing since Frank Moussa.

Jon Taylor is a good player. Seems strange that Posh would be happy to let him go

    Go get him Russell!

Absolutely gutted for the Cobblers. Holmes has suffered a lot of injury but came back midseason and put the gloss on Northampton's solid form. He plays all over the pitch, swapping from left to right and back again...a nightmare for midfield and defence in L2. No reason to think he won't perform in L1...apart from those injuries. A bit sickened to see a solid team stripped by the likes of Charlton, who frankly these days have more money but no class or bollocks.

I'm going to go with a broken record here. I like Slade,on the basis of virtually nothing I think he has class.

I think it's a big shame Northampton can't keep their team together but it's not just us who are taking their promotion team apart.

I hope, but am not sure Leicester can keep their team together.

    Seems like a similar issue

Such a shame when we are welcoming good signings with a negative attitude but nothing has convinced me I should renew that season ticket I have had for 31 years yet

    Good luck Ricky

    Good stuff.

    She just can't help herself

"I'd like to thank Latrine for her working getting the deal done"

Coincidence that is the only sentence thats at least a tiny bit questionable.

    "Working" ...... "work in"

She really is utterly pathetic. So poisonous.

Thanking her in particular, whatever work she has or hasn't put into this deal just makes absolutely no sense.

    Randomly awful.

    I know you're right.
It seems different when you've watched a team fighting for survival and winning losing out to our bunch of clowns. I'll get over it.

Probably because Cobblers remind me of Charlton circa 1997.

    Really?

Charlton have been stripped of their best youngsters for years!

Do you think Chelsea fans felt sorry for us when they stole Parker off of us?

It's a dog eat dog world, who's going to feel sorry for us when Lookman goes?

Do all the teams higher than us that nick our best players have no class or bollocks or is this just another dig at the club?

If Charlton had shown any bollocks or class in the last season I might have felt differently. At the moment I find it hard to feel that good about Charlton and buying a L2 player from a club who have shown the guts and integrity of the Cobblers to survive and triumph in the last season goes against the grain. It's the underdog thing. So yes. It is another dig at the club.

Oh. And I don't give a fuck what Chelsea fans think of anything. They truly have no class and their bollocks are the most expensive transplants in the world but they still keep falling off.

I feel slightly sorry for the Cobblers, but that's how the transfer market works. When Powell assembled his L1 winning team, he cherry picked many of the best players from smaller clubs (Wiggins and Hollands from Bournemouth, Matt Taylor, Stevens, Hayes etc) and I bet Colchester were gutted to lose Kinsella to us.

You're right on one thing, it is the underdog thing.

Charlton have been underdogs for ever and we have had to watch our best players being sold.

What do you think Northampton are going to do to replace Holmes. The most likely scenario is that they will replace him with some club's star player from L2. Like I said it's a dog eat dog world.

Absolutely nothing to do with bollocks or class!

    This

And it's not just about clubs though is it. A player that is doing well / done well will naturally want to improve his lot. With the greatest respect to Northampton, Charlton are much bigger by comparison and a step up for the player. Exactly the same as when Wilder jumped ship for the opportunity to manage a "bigger" club.

We will lose players over the next few weeks for the same reason. That's football and always has been.

Not read the whole thread. Have we done all the name-based puns yet?

I hope the other members of the squad give him a warm welcome, so it really feels like Holmes sweet home for him from day one.

Hoping he'll bang in a hattrick and put in a Man of the Match performance on the first day of the season - the Ideal Holmes Show

I just fear that if he performs well, the big clubs will start sniffing round and the January transfer window will end up with Holmes under the hammer.

Funnily enough, I got lost whilst driving around Northampton a few weeks ago, and Ricky happened to be walking along the street so I pulled over to ask for directions. I said, show me the way to go Holmes.
