Not defending Sue, I think she's pretty wide of the mark on this statement but let's get it clear, she pays for her season ticket, she doesn't get a "freebie" as some think.
Definitely doesn't pay for any of her hospitality at the away matches, though.
Neither does anyone else at the club, nor do visitors from other clubs pay at the Valley.
By all means criticise what Sue says (it's nonsense IMHO) but whether she gets a free seat at Bury doesn't make her views any more or less valid.
I was merely pointing out that, contrary to earlier suggestions, she enjoys more than her fair share of freebies considering she isn't employed by the club in any capacity.
And as for criticising her views - I absolutely will. Her views on the fan base are nothing short of laughable. I also drew no link between the validity of her opinions and her hospitality consumption.
really, so everyone is getting perplexed about comments from the WIFE of a club employee .. f f s chaps get a life
Lincs, I think it goes beyond that because I believe (and someone can correct me if I'm wrong) that Sue Parkes is also an administrator on the Charlton related facebook site that she posts on and in this capacity has been known to remove posts critical of Katrien Meire.
She appears (again subjective on my part) to 'worship' Katrien Meire as if she were some kind of infallible cult leader.
Welcome to Meiresville everybody. Now who'd like some of my special punch, I can assure you there's absolutely no cyanide in it. Hallelujah.
Sue has a better fan experience than the rest of us. I assume free travel and tickets, and hotels if needed, although BDL says not, but she enjoys a cushioned fan experience. Director hospitality home and away. I believe that ordinarily Sue is distanced from the angst of following Charlton like the rest of us, and she is close to information, and of course people who work at the club to whom she will feel loyal. To say fans are responsible for relegation, or even partially responsible, assumes Sue knows what it is to be fans like us. In addition of course she is wrong. I said directly to Katrien Meire in public at the PowerPoint meeting last November that we needed serious change there and then. If the regime had a heeded this particular fans advice back then, we would have stayed up. At that same meeting club shop Kenny told us how we ought to be fans, and later David Norris is told as a paying fan that 'he's not helping '. Anyway people are phoned and asked to buy season tickets, is that not blatantly risking another relegation seeing as how season ticket holders were partially responsible for relegating us last season? Sorry Sue. Wrong and unwise thing to write, and the timing is dreadful.
It makes you wonder just how strong her husbands position is at the club. If he had a pair of balls or any sense he would have a word with her and tell her to stop posting such crap.
Any businessman worth his salt would not allow something like this to happen.
She is entitled to her opinion as are we. As she is nothing to do with the club, Facebook is the only outlet she has to communicate her opinions with others. She probably feels she has some special relationship with the club and is one of the ITK crowd therefore feels her knowledge trumps ours. I don't know her, read what she writes and disagree with her views. Best ignored people like these.
I'm all for free speech, but given her situation she should at least think twice before she posts some of her comments. She should keep her head down really, she is not helping at all.
Sue has completely embarrassed herself with that comment. What an utter outrage.
Perhaps Sue should take a larger share of the blame by publically supporting the regime, and therefore allowing them to believe that some supporters believe in the 'experiment'.
I don't care what she pays for or what she doesn't, it's irrelevant, but her comments often annoy me. I sometimes wonder if she makes these statements because she thinks by being vocally loyal, it will help keep her husband in his job somehow.
As has been said, she is not employed by the club, these are her opinions of which she is entitled to, however weird they are. Best ignore and delete like any spam.
Maybe she knows something we don't. All that contact with people who wouldn't mix with the likes of us has made her privy to top secret information.
Points are actually awarded not by which team scores the most goals but as a result of the fans and how many pro ownership songs they sing. That is why with our protests we went down!
I think her comments here particularly show her lack of insight. A business is nothing like owning a house. In business, whilst you want to make a profit, you also have to ensure the people that use your business, have an experience they want to keep repeating. If I made some major changes to the way I operate in my own business, and my most loyal clients were unhappy with the new model and were leaving in droves, I would have to seriously look at the reasons why and adapt accordingly.
When you own a home, it's for you, personally, and unless you are upsetting your neighbours, there should be no reason for outside influences to force you to try to sell up. Quite honestly, it's a ridiculous analogy from Sue Parkes.
This should be one for the things that annoy thread but I'm getting a bit fed up of people using the word mistake. A repeated act surely cant be a mistake?
Agreed. I don't agree with what she's said but to resort to name calling is unnecessary
A number of people have taken her to task for being a freeloader but she's married to an employee and The Parkes' are often one of the only representatives of the club to attend away games. If that's the argument then should the players pay for their travel and accommodation?

Like having a rubbish or service or product and trying to blame it on the customers, who are significantly engaged enough to provide some customer feedback.

But, it's not as if she's anyone of importance.

Don't need this level of abuse IMHO
That statement justifies everyone of those insults

Although what she wrote is utter garbage, imo.
