I think he will go to the Arsenal. I would like to see a loan back to us.

We can't claim to have grown Lookman. He joined us as a more mature player like Pope.

What age is the cut off point? We've had players join us at 14/15 but as that's before they're in u18s so one mentions or notices it.

If Katrien is true to her proposition then he will be with us for the next season so that customers can come and see a future star of the premiership.

Surely they could sell him today and still fulfil that promise ?

As with any player in our squad if we receive the typical derisory offer he'll be off.

Out the door it is then.

Hopefully to the Arsenal with a loan back as said by others above.

Lookman joined as a 16 year old straight from school, too young for a professional contract.

Nick Pope was older, signed as a 17 year old from Bury Town and given a 2 year pro contract.

We have not had Lookman under our wing since the age of 11 or 12 which is what I mean by home grown.
However we had the wisdom to sign him when others (except Waterloo FC) presumably missed him out there.

If he goes to a Premiership club, there is no way they would loan him to a disfunctional league 1 club.

More to the point, why would he want to come back to one?

Well he would get to play, he would get the shit kicked out of him which might toughen him up a bit, and maybe he gets on well with Slade?

Ok you're right he won't be back.

Some of these young lads just want to play football and get games under their belt, rather than stuck in someone's U21 team.

Clubs are trying to pay us too much money, roly would rather sell him for a couple of million, not ten. These bloody big clubs trying to buy our players for inflated fees.

Exactly. Plus he's already proved (admittedly only briefly) that he can cut it at championship level so why would a premier league side make him take a step back and loan him to a level below that.
  • Can see him being sold off for a derisory fee to a bottom half Prem side like Palace.
In fact if it does turn out to be Palace it will probably be my tipping point.

Pope said he wanted to stay when someone on here spoke to him at the POTY do a couple of months back.

No player is going to say in public that he wants to go............until a premier league club bid for him then he'll be off quicker than you can press 'LOL' to one of Colin's ridiculous posts.

A lot of young players leave too early for clubs where they won't play and they stop developing. It's a long list. If he does go, from the player's perspective I'd rather see him go to a Villa, a Wolves, a Norwich, a Derby, a Brighton - someone in the Championship who can pay us a decent fee but give the player first team action.
  • I like the player, but cannot see a Prem team signing him yet. I really don't think he has been that impressive from what I've seen, just considerably better than the shower of shit around him. Clearly a real talent, but he's not a Gomez or an Alli, put it that way. Very confident we will keep hold of him for the season/until January

Spot on. Regular League One football for a 18 year old would develop him, too. I really hope he stays both for us and for him.
