Wait till tex, lookman and harriot all go next week ;)
  • His big and bald, and hates Millwall, Ohhhh Russell Slade
  • Employed by the regime, part of the regime.
I'll give him the benefit of doubt until the end of the month. Then I'll decide if to support him or not.

    Christ, as long as that!..

must admit, I'm not his biggest fan. But certainly deserves the support of the fans.

Just out of interest what is it you don't like about him?

I wouldn't say I don't like him. I guess I'm just a bit sceptical of anything the Belgians do. And I have to say, I don't really have any respect for anybody who is willing to be employed by them.

All that said, I hope it works out for him.

So, you want Charlton to have no players, no coaching staff, and no staff behind the scenes?

Which means Charlton Athletic, basically, ceases to exist...

Who would you want to destroy as a viable concern next?

Christ! I don't think even Millwall fans hate Charlton that much!

I think I would be sceptical in peace time, ie before Duchatelet . At the moment, I don't see how anyone could do any better

If he fails the regime will have failed once again. The last thing I want is Katy and Roland getting the notion that their way works.
Nothing's changed, we've lost good players once again and recruited league 3 players, too late, not enough of them and lacking in quality to get us out of division 3.
We are away to bloody Bury at the weekend and we still haven't assembled a squad. At this rate we will quickly become a team battling at the wrong end of the league. Slade knew all this before he took over, he's already lowered expectations by saying we haven't got a squad to challenge for the top.
So, I will give him, (grudgingly), till the end of the month. By then we will all know the true ambitions of our club.

Is that what I said? Where did I say I want us to have no players, coaching staff etc, etc.

I said I have no respect for anybody who works for The Belgians - do you?

But it Iwill all be ok - it's all going really well at the moment. Wait for the sting in the tail - because there will be one. All that's happening now is moves are being made to try and placate fans. They want people to buy season tickets.

Who do I want to destroy next? It's not really me doing the destroying next is it? The minute Roland took over the destruction began. We had a perfectly good manager in place. Surely when you come in to a club the first thing you want to do is keep your supporters customers on side. Yet all that we have really seen on regular basis is lies.

I want Charlton to be successful as much as the next fan, but is it really going to happen under this mob? Of course it's not. Say we win league 1? Not really a success is it ?- we needn't even be in this league. It would then bring us around to 3 1/2 years under this ownership - and we won't have made an ounce of progress.

As for hating Charlton - yes I really do hate a team that I've invested 35 years and X amount of money in to. I hate the way things are - you know the little things like not being able to go to home games, not being able to take my children etc, etc (personal choice I know, but the off field stuff and my thoughts on it mean more that getting my fix at The Valley) but I love Charlton, will be at away games and back 'home' when we are in different hands.

As for Slade - he has to work, I get that and as I said in my op, I hope it works out for him.

Maybe a more interesting question is, does Russell Slade 100% support the fans?
Well clearly not, he knows which side his bread is buttered.
But I must say I had been expecting him to make some conciliatory statements, or some kind of rallying cry for unity if you like.
He has kind of been conspicuous by his silence on the protests in particular and the fans in general (unless I've missed it).
I realise he would have to be guarded with any direct reference to the discord, but it's almost like he's avoiding the issue.
BTW I back him 100% even though I think he won't always be allowed to play with a full deck

RS and the squad have my 100% support, that does not mean KM or RD has, but for me CAFC competing and doing well has to be the most important thing at this time. My thoughts have changed somewhat, I thought RD would sell only if we got relegated again, but thinking about it if we did go down then the club would be even more devalued and RD may cling on to get his money back, and drive us even lower down the football chain. However if we are successful this season and we are promoted then the value of the club goes up and maybe an offer to buy from someone would be accepted.
Its all speculation and ifs/buts, I know that, but despite the mistakes of the past I would not want to see our club relegated again, I fear we would not come back before my time on earth is done.
The other option is, that we do well and during the season, lets say December/January, an offer comes in to buy the club that RD can accept, and the new owners have a club on the up and ready to invest in a side in the Championship.
RD wont be here forever, that's impossible, but during his tenure the squad, however unpalatable that is for many, deserve our support. I know many wont agree with me, but I've tried to look at it as objectively as I can.

You say that Roland won't be here forever but he does have a habit of passing his clubs to family members. His DNA could be poisoning our club for generations yet.

He's talked well up until yesterday
How he deals with Roger Johnson will say much about what I think of him from now on.

Jackson on the left is a concern. I remember CP saying several years ago that that wouldn't happen again

Russell Slade might be somehow embroiled in establishing things at Charlton, but wanting is not the same as getting.
Slade has gone on about players wanting to be here and play for the shirt...well if that was in evidence yesterday it was from the Bury players.
It was a beautifully flat pitch in almost perfect footballing conditions, yet we all had that WTF moment when the team was picked, and the substitutions were listed.
For a start there is a small irony in some folk saying that Ba would start because we had little choice...he was nowhere to be seen. We had resigned ourselves to Johnson when we saw the squad numbers, and considered the injury situation but it was poorer than all that anyway.
Then Jackson on the left, with two similar old mercenaries occupying central midfield, totally ineffective.
The conditions of the game were crying out for Lookman, Bury were tough but not especially dirty, and having sold Harriott we were desperate for a player who could do something. The bench was possibly a signal to Katrien.
The in game management wasn't up to anything much at all, the substitutions were not great either. Possibly the half time talk had some effect but nowhere near enough.
We looked a defeated side as early as the tenth minute when a speculative Bury shot swerved narrowly wide.
Lookman should have started. Hanlan should also have started for an unfit Novak, Jackson should have played inside instead of the piss poor Foley, and Johnson is a poor excuse for a proper footballer.
There has to be improvements everywhere by a factor of five

Jackson himself said he wasn't quick enough to play out wide.

My support is now standing at 80%. In the event that current form does not continue as it stands but is generally poor I anticipate it being around 30 - 50% by the start of October, and around 10 -20% by Christmas as follows:
  • For 'support' substitute levels of interest which will wane if Slade dosen't quickly engineer entertainment in SE7.
5,500 haven't renewed to see us plod through Ligue Un, they'll expect attacking intent.
Slade probably needs to out prior to bringing in as the paltry 100k offer to Killies for Magennis indicates.
Heading to World of Smile Stadium Tuesday to see the kidz in action.

Slade has been training this squad for 5 or 6 weeks now. Reading the post match views it is clear that the result of these 5 or 6 weeks of his coaching is an utterly shit longball footballing performance. Not interested in his never ending complaints about the squad. He should spend less time giving press conferences and interviews and spend more time on the training pitch doing what is his primary job and that is coaching the squad so that they play like a modern professional football team.

Slade is right that the squad isn't where it needs to be, but simple things like playing Jackson on the left are ridiculous.
