Potentially given a short term contract because that's when they expect diara and kashi to be fit again?
Could back up airmans "compromise" statement

< but Slade possibly has as much experience in this division as any other manager and that is one of the crucial things that we've been missing.

    Support the team !

Whilst I wish Slade all the best, your continual blind optimism reeks of desperation that protestors are winning. It'll be a lonely Valley for you, because most are not do willing to believe that a few concessions is the same thing as meaningful change.

Remember, Slade only has that superior experience of the division because he's never been able to get out of it!!!!!

Rubbish. I have no blind optimism. I am aware of the ability of the players we are signing and if we add another 4/5 players who are top level league 1 players, we are in with a shout of making a top 6 challenge.

I agree that if we don't get in another 4 good players we won't end up above half way.

I'm certainly not against the protestors. I am a protestor. I'm at all the protests and generally right at the front !

It's just that I'm man enough to say it how it is.
  • thought it said "5 year contract" for half a second and almost spat out my juice.

Didnt realise you worked in a coffee shop?

Would have kept him. Konsa is no right back, so only Solly as a natural right back. Unless a replacement has been lined up.

Suspect he was on pretty high wages after dropping down from the Championship and being a former Premier League/international player. By all accounts was solid cover at RB and not very good in central midfield. From a player with his experience you'd probably want a little more than that.

It's telling that we let him go on the same day we sign JFC. I know KR probably has more money to work with now that we've sold Lookman, but it's a real stark contrast in who the two managers have signed to be their central midfielders.

    Good luck Kev
  • Would have signed him until the end of the season to be honest.

He should have been nowhere near our midfield but he was good cover for Solly, where Konsa has looked poor when deputising.

    All the best Kevin.

Nothing spectacular but you could throw him into a number of positions and he would do a solid job. Felt he deserved a run of games at right back and sure he would have impressed.

    He will need replacing now...

With no Holmes and no Botaka and solly only just returning from injury we look very short down that right hand side...

Maybe this the correct decision for a change.
  • Looks like he's been sent to Coventry.

Definitely would have kept him till the end of season. Without doubt the second best right back after Solly and Solly can't guarantee to stay fit unfortunately

I was somewhat dismayed when he was first signed, a 5 month contract had the hint of desperation about it. Not enough money in the budget, Slade arguing with 'scouts', I feared he was the worst sort of compromise and bodge signing.

He did a solid job backing up though, so I'm a bit disappointed in the end he's been let go. But as we know, Duchatelet will not pay for depth and experience in the squad so I expect another (cheap) academy lad to be chucked in the deep end instead.

I'd have kept hold of him for cover at RB.

Slade did him no favours playing him in midfield.
  • Good luck Kevin hope you get another club soon

I think we have RB covered with Konsa and Solly - midfield additions allow that!

    I agree. He's a decent right back.

Gives us wage money to spend elsewhere. He wasn't very good for us.

Good luck Kev. Thanks for the memories.
  • I reckon his wages were small. May have dropped down a division but there was no queue to get him. Decent RB cover but that is all. We will be able to replace with equal I reckon but depends whether the billionaires budget allows or we just throw in a kid instead.

I don't think Konsa is anything but emergency cover for Solly, need a longer term cover option.

Would have kept him solely as right back cover, as a midfielder, forget it.

Sell and replace, never expands and improves.
  • Would have kept him in the squad: good cover, experienced, solid ok performances. Sort of thing required if you're attempting a promotion push.

    Solly always looks very short...
