0-0 with MK Dons. A must-win game against fellow strugglers where we had to go for the win regardless. Instead we got a side who went sideways/backwards for the first half and barely managed a shot in anger. Lousy tactics, piss-poor performance from largely uninterested or not good enough players and a dismal Tuesday night which underlined all that is rotten with the club at the moment.
This one for me.
Though, when I saw the thread title, I was going to say Ker Plunk!!! Cheap and nasty, yet overpriced and just a huge disappointment, but enough about me....
Bournemouth at Home last game of season when they went up as champions. Completely outclassed on the pitch. The club had given a load of our seats away to away fans, and they even managed to make a mess of the compensation by giving out food vouchers and food ran out. Incompetence on and off the pitch.
Sheffield United away was all about RD, his tinkering and was the barometer of things to come.
Palace in the cup with a weak team put out showed Luzon did not get it. Let down Charlton fans and also let down a lot of his own first teamers who were desperate to play. I genuinely think that decision was morale destroying and played a part in deciding our fate last season (and he was our Sir Alex Ferguson no less!)
MK Dons as well. An absolute let down when you consider it was a must win.
No impetus or tempo from the team a complete constrast to other midweek must wins which we'd done before such as Yeovil 3-2, Watford 3-1 instead it just felt like a flat meaningless match.
Luzon played the weakest 11 he could of ever played, against our biggest rivals. He also missed the first 45 mins because of Yom Kippur. We got absolutely battered.
Couldnt make it up.
Which he's allowed to do as it's the biggest holiday on the Jewish calendar.
From what I remember, we were strewn with injuries at that point and our threadbare squad was really starting to show. I don't think he had much choice but to play some of the kids that he did.
I wasn't a fan of Luzon's, just feel there's a bit of revisionist history going on.

Issue there was that players were being rested for Cardiff away on the following Sat - we rolled over then as well. Still sore about that one given it was followed by watching England lose to Wales in the RWC in Cardiff city centre, not a good day out...
For me it has to be Reading at home where Yann Kermorgant was unmarked at the far post to score the first goal with a header. What was going through Katrien's mind when she saw that or did she just grin as usual?
I think the Hull 6-0, because I never thought it was possible but I felt absolutely nothing at the end of that match. Didn't care we'd been totally spanked, wasn't angry or embarrassed, just numb to it. If anything sums this regime up it's the ability to make Charlton fans feel so miserable and hopeless that they don't care about Charlton anymore.
This for me. Took fancy dress and at half time we were singing and laughing. Great gallows humour and singing 'We want 6' bemused the home fans especially when we cheered as much as them when the scored. Many hoped the result might just push RD to cut and run but he's made of shallower stuff than that. I've actually cried at better performances than that. How far we'd sunk really hit home that day.
The Bolton game. 2-0 up after 20 mins against a team bottom of the league, not been paid in months and had Emile Heskey playing for them. They drew 2-2.
The home game against Wolves when we lost 2-0, was unbelievably inept at how bad,, I don't think Woves had won away fro a while, but turned up and were handed the result on a plate
Blimey there are so many to choose from, liked several above, but probably will go for the Sheff Utd cup game. There were things about that performance that were obviously just Wrong, but it only emerged afterwards what. Chucked away a Wembley semi. The precedent for a stream of decisions of epic stupidity from a "visionary businessman"
The fact that so many different games have been quoted says it all.
They all merge into one for me. Even in the darkest days when we went down to Div 1before, I never felt so indifferent as I did these last 2 years. That's why I didn't renew.
The Bournemouth game 2015, to see a team win the league on your own ground made me feel pretty sick. Totally summed up how contrasting the fortunes of both clubs were.
Too make matters worse it happened again a year later!
Colchester in the cup for me. They were bottom of League 1.....hmmm
So many memories of utter tripe in that game. Everyone looked so clueless. Vaz Te didn't know where to play and then couldn't play. JJ getting bits of paper.
My overriding memory was when we needed to score last 10 mins and had a corner, everybody was in the box in anticipation.....
It had not occurred to any of them that someone had to take the corner in the first place!
Sheffield United in Cup, when the word had already gone round that SCP was getting grief from Doshitalot , my heart was broken and still hasn't been repaired

To lose 3 nil to a side who themselves were having a poor season.....

All the promise in the world... yet still we weren't good enough.
They drew 2-2.
The stewards made us stay till the end, bastards
2-0 up, full of promise, then lose 3-2 and it all goes down the drain.

Shitty Shit.
