  • 0-0 HT.
  • It's stalemate at the break, but Barnsley have had a Trialist sent off for a foul on Nathan Asiimwe.
  • 49’ GOALLLLLLL! WE’RE IN FRONT! 🙌

Ryan Huke opens the scoring, running onto a through ball from Micah Mbick and slotting past the goalkeeper! 🥶
  • 4-0, 4 goals in 8 minutes, we're running riot
  • Huke with the second goal, Casey with the third.
  • 51’ GOALLLLLLL! TWO IN THREE MINUTES! 😍

It's Ryan Huke again, turning home from close range to grab his third goal in two games this season! 💪
  • 53’ GOALLLLLLL! IT'S RAINING GOALS IN YORKSHIRE! 🌧️

Patrick Casey gets his customary goal, curling one past the goalkeeper from another Micah Mbick assist! 🙌

  • 57’ GOALLLLLLL! OH MY WORD! 😍

Henry Rylah gets in on the act, latching onto a ball down the wing from Alan Mwamba, cutting inside and firing into the net! 🥳

  • This could be a cricket score especially against 10 men
  • So Asiimwe playing RCB, 2 wingers playing wing back, sounds very attacking. I know this half is against 10 men so have to take it with a pinch of salt, but looks like the front 2 are continuing on from last season

I assume given their first team are playing against Manchester United U21's in the EFL Trophy today this isn't as strong a team as they might have put out otherwise.
  • 64’  Chris Lock makes a double change...  Henry Rylah  Kai Enslin off
     Ollie Hobden  Trialist B on
    Great shift, lads!   0-4

  • 76’ Another couple of substitutions for the young Addicks... Keenan Gough Micah Mbick Toby Bower Ibrahim Fullah Well played boys!
  • Full time 4-0. 2 wins from 2, top of the league.
  • Doesn't seem to be anything on Barnsley twitter about the game.  Odd.
  • Could somebody start a new Under 21's Updates 2024/25 headline. This thread started 8 years ago and it's a bit laborious having over 300 pages.

Would be a shame to lose all the previous updates or at least not have them in one place.

Vic Bettinelli was apparently part of our coaching team away at Barnsley. He was an academy GK coach with Fulham but said to have left this summer.
  • Can he get his Son to sign from Chelsea?

Would be a great loan signing. Apparently they have 7 or 8 goalkeepers at he moment.

    Personal life

    [edit]

Bettinelli is the son of Fulham Academy goalkeeping coach Vic Bettinelli,[43] and he is of Italian descent on his father's side.[44] Bettinelli and his wife live with their two dogs. In his free time, Bettinelli enjoys playing golf, video games and watching movies and shows on Netflix.[45]

    6'4" BTW

  • Along with the news on Bettinelli I was sent a few comments on our players vs Barnsley which I've put into my own words:

We played a fluid 4-2-3-1 with a lot of rotations.

    Trialist GK

    Asiimwe - Gough - Hunter - Enslin

    Kedwell - Mwamba

    Rylan - Casey - Huke

    Mbick

Trialist GK - not Marko Marosi, it was a kid with blond hair (no idea who). We also had a trialist left back, again don't know who.

Casey - had a poor game, tried a lot of flicks that didn't come off but his movement got him in good areas.

Mbick - good size, powerful, decent pace but looked like he's still learning to use it. Had some loose touches.

Rylah - proper threat and another one with a good size, powerful as well. Maybe not a million miles off being league ready, perhaps one to go out on loan to the National League, as we've seen with players like Henry going to Wealdstone in the past.

Enslin - looked comfortable at LB defensively and going forward but not massively tested. I know he's also played right wing for us in the past, so sounds like he's in the Doughty/Clayden mould.

Kedwell - didn't stand out, looks comfortable but perhaps at a level where he can now stroll through these games. Not much about him physically, neat on the ball without taking much risk.

Asiimwe - great profile but played within himself. His agents been on about him for a while, trying to get him a loan move.

  • Think Kedwell could do with another loan at NL level same with Casey, Rylah and Mbick. Just go and get regular games in men's football and learn the game. Worked for Kanu last season.

I can see Mbick playing L2 at the very least. Always worries defenders. If I was him, I wouldn't take a NL loan.

Casey would do better at Championship level. Kedwell not seen enough of him. Rylah is a unit who doesn't use his strength but can do better than NL.
