This love affair with Jackson is laughable and absurd. He captained a team that failed miserably last year – couldn't defend, couldn't score – and relegated us fans to bumble around with Rochdale and Fleetwood.
As captain, Jackson was incapable of doing what 15,000 fans implored – ignore our crappy managers, and get the players together to beat our opponents. The facts are bare: in a season of 46 games we scored 40 goals. Dutifully, when relegation was sealed at Bolton, Jackson publicly owned up: “It's our fault. It's the players' fault.”
Damn right. Those hopeless games under Fraeye, for example: why didn't Jackson think of an alternative and fire up the players: “Fuck the manager. We'll play this way.” Meanwhile, we – the fans – suffered another season of appalling spineless failure.
There's a confusion about what players say and what they do. When Henderson was frustrated after losing at Huddersfield last year, voice cracking with despair about Duchatelet, he might have stopped to think. He himself had just shipped five goals – to add to the regular three at The Valley when he couldn't command his own six-yard box, let alone inspire our defenders. Henderson conceded three against Burton Albion last week – and another three at Brighton on Friday.
Jackson played badly again yesterday. He thought about jumping for a 50-50 ball and couldn't quite get off the ground. In the first half, unchallenged, he sent a 70-yard hoof diagonally from defence to attack that landed in a vast no-man's-land. Our midfield is pathetically weak, has been since the Prem. Utterly flaccid. Simply devoid of physical strength and mental ability.
In the second half yesterday we got forward quicker, used our instincts, feared no-one at all – and actually scored. That's what every other football team does.
We might beat Shrewsbury on Tuesday.
What was your point about Henderson? And I think you will find most fans won't have a bad word to say about JJ. Yes he can have a bad game like everyone else but to knock him like you have is, as you say, laughable and absurd. He scored yesterday and you don't even give him the credit for that. JJ is a club legend as far as I am concerned.

Went on a free ticket, and sat in the East. The main disappointment was the near-total lack of protest during the game. Maybe one muted 'we want roland out' at the very end. I kept looking towards the Covered End in hope of something starting, but nothing did. I'm all for supporting the team, not the regime, but yesterday it just seemed as if everyone had given up on it all. The weirdest atmosphere. Can't believe the number of people who seemed happy to stand up and clap politely at the end as if we'd come away with a result. Are we really satisfied to be drawing at home with a team that last season were 2 seasons below us (and whose star player we've apparently nicked)? Are we really just going to sit back and take it from the regime, in a week when that batshit letter got sent out?

Really hope we can get our Charlton back soon.

I was at both games and agree about the timewasting, but the referee yesterday wasn't too bad overall. He might have booked the Cobblers bloke for that first challenge on Holmes, but i have a feeling there were no yellow cards yesterday and that was refreshing.

Great post. I support the boycott of home games and season tickets, but in doing so we do lose an anti-Duchatelet and Meire voice to those that are weirdly (meaning weird) happy to go along and pretend everything's OK at our club. It has to be sustained though, whether that's protesting at home games outside and / or using away games to protest.

Keep The Valley rocking! I was in the upper north where the atmosphere is meant to be. Lad next to me yawned most of the game, chap in front read his newspaper all game and I spent most of the game having a conversation with a couple of people without having to talk above normal levels. Rock on.
Like I've said a lot recently, 99.9% of the fans and general football population can't be wrong. It's not a declining amount of people - it is rightly increasing until there's only a handful of people (who get handouts / on good terms with KM) who still can't / refuse to see what's going on.
Cannot understand the blindness - though I have alluded to it. It's in their best interest I guess.
1st half - meh, 2nd - gave me a bit of optimism...subject to recruiting a league 1 standard box to box maestro in midfield. If we could get Kashi fit and keep him, he would tear through teams in this division, but that's a long shot, so a recruit here, I agree, is necessary.

Driving home via Blackwall Tunnel really revealed the number of supporters that were missing - never have I had a easy exit passage than on Saturday. The attendance on Tuesday will be interesting and more of a true reflection of future numbers.
So far as the club is concerned, I felt no affinity, love or support on the day. Just numbness at the ownership situation we are in.
On the playing side, Holmes excited me but was unimpressed by the remainder.
Longer term, I do not regret my decision to not renew my season ticket. Cant really see me going to any further home games whilst the current bunch are in charge.
I have decided to go to a small number of homes (as I am an addict who needs his fix) and more aways. I didn't go on Saturday and it was hard, but will probably go on Tuesday. I will try not to go for a month or so after that to ease my guilt.

Voice sales didn't suggest there was a shortage of people disaffected with the regime, despite the smaller crowd and all the comps. And I get that not everyone who buys the Voice would necessarily support CARD and vice versa, but you might still have expected to see a drop if the angry brigade were missing. Certainly relative to the attendance there was none.

We had to be very patient with getting HG in. The seller tried to undermine the deal but we managed to get them over the line in time for Saturday.
