As long as he doesn't let people walk all over him he should be fine.3

"Another player who is regularly praised by his coaches, most notably for his awareness and range of passing"

dodgy ear ring
“I’d describe myself as a box-to-box midfielder, I’m more of a No8 than a No4 who just sits. My favourite player is Luka Modric, I think he’s the best midfielder in the world at the moment. I was watching him closely in the Champions League final, he is the player I want to become in the long run.

Is this one of the two RS was talking about or an extra?0

One of the Academy players who Slade has to play & we can sell him for a profit in January :-)Henry Irving said:Looks like an academy signing rather than 1st team as that's Steve Avory with him.
Welcome Matt.0 -
Thanks, I am a bit surprised that he would leave WH having just signed a contract and wondered if we had offered him a squad place. Must be some reason he jumped ship.Scoham said:
OS says he'll join Euell's development squad, so he's an extra.Redrobo said:Is this one of the two RS was talking about or an extra?

Going on what was said here it may just be down to competition for places - http://readwestham.com/2016/08/19/matt-carter-leaves-join-charlton/?Redrobo said:

We also have a lot of young midfielders ourselves, but I guess he's seen as different and/or better than what we have.0 -
Played on loan at Northampton last season! Would have played with Ricky Holmes! Did he have some input maybe!2

I think he may have been bought to play. Would not be surprised if he is not in the squad very early, maybe even today.1

An 18 year old, who appears to be rated at a Premier club
should be good enough to get into a League 1 squad ?2 -
If so seems odd to photograph him with the academy manager and say he'll join Euell's U23 squad.Redrobo said:I think he may have been bought to play. Would not be surprised if he is not in the squad very early, maybe even today.

It's clearly just a mistake, they've missed off a number.ValleyGary said:'8 year old'

His age is on his shirt. He's 78.

I know, but I still can't get my head round the fact that he had just signed a long contract with WH and then suddenly decide to move down two leagues to join us.Henry Irving said:

My conclusion is that he wants to play 1st team football and that we are either now known as a club that give youngsters a chance, or we dangled a carrot.0 -
Or they told him he wasn't wanted/going to make it and best to move on.
Not in the first team squad today.1 -
Yes, strange for someone to sign a pro contract in June, then leave 2 months later, especially as he had been with WH all his lifeRedrobo said:

Does seem odd from West Ham but hope we've got a bargain as a result.0

West Ham were willing to release him, but wanted a development fee?killerandflash said:

Signed him to a contract and we've paid them some money. Perhaps.

Apart from Holmes, the midfield is very pedestrian.0

They were willing to let him go, if he was ready for League One they'd probably be loaning him out.soapboxsam said:An 18 year old, who appears to be rated at a Premier club

Matt Carter was on the bench for the U23 today at Sparrows lane but didn't get on so no early reports on him.
I hope he doesn't turn out to be A Koc.2 -
He's only 18 though, Soapy.soapboxsam said:Matt Carter was on the bench for the U23 today at Sparrows lane but didn't get on so no early reports on him.

Carter did start last week's match (actually before he signed for Charlton), so the club must have been sufficiently impressed.

as was mentioned on the U23 thread, Matt Carter didn't start today becauseOggy Red said:

they want to send KAG, Umerah, Kennedy, Muldoon or even Aribo out on loan and were in the loan Window today as Phil brown plus scouts were watching. As Carter is only young he will only play U23 for most of the season.4 -
Maybe they discovered they did not have a seat for him in the Olympic stadiumkillerandflash said:
