Who has finished as London's top club most?

I saw this posted elsewhere. Nice to see us there - 2 times I assume, and 2 more than certain other South London clubs!

Surprised that QPR were top London club more often than West Ham as well.

Interesting stuff, wonder when Brentford were top ?

QPR had good sides in the 70's and 80's, guess Brentford were top in ~40's.
Apart from our 2nd place season, which was our other season as top side in London?

    Runner up in 36-37, 3rd in 38-39 (Arsenal 5th) and 4th in 37-38 (Arsenal 1st).

QPR were second to Liverpool in 75/76, just missing out on the title

It would be interesting to see the SOUTH London version if this.

Based on league position it would be us - based on trophies won, Wanderers FC would be above us!!

Palace will soon be catching us though.

It's surprising how rarely we've been in the same division as Palace, as they had long periods of being well below us, not overtaking us on the pitch until the late 60s, and often we've seemed to alternate our periods in the top division or of being rubbish!

Indeed Wimbledon would have been the top South London club throughout most of their top flight days!

I'd be interested to see the bottom club chart as well. Thank goodness for AFC Wimbledon and Leyton Orient.

Palace will never catch the mighty Charlton, we will be playing in the same division next season

That might be a little bit over optimistic. We might have to weight two seasons for that.

    Not to mention Barnet.

a more interesting stat, we have spent 26 seasons in the top flight, Palace have only managed 17...Milwall 2, only 4 sides have spent longer there than us.....

As always, Charlton are still 5th...

The 30 years of mediocrity between the mid 50s and mid 80s really stand out

As does the horrendous collapse from the mid 2000s to 2011, which is a straight line downwards

    Thanks :-(

Interesting that we've never been 'League 2', doesn't sound that bad until you say Division/Tier 4.

Duchatalet going after another club record after debt and competitive attendance (work in progress).

Palaces one should have gone further down in 2010, but they went into admin and sent a bunch of business to closure whilst being kept afloat with our tax...
