Tonight's crucial meeting relating to Lewisham Council’s plan for a compulsory purchase of land around Millwall’s ground has been adjourned until January 11.
The Council was expected to make a final decision on the matter this evening amid controversial plans to sell the land to property developers Renewal.
But League One club Millwall, who have played at the Den since the stadium was constructed in 1993, have confirmed that the Council wishes to investigate further before committing to a decision.
A club statement read: "Millwall Football Club is pleased that Lewisham Council's Mayor and Cabinet has taken the opportunity to investigate further the potential impact of CPO's in terms of the club's ability to operate as a Category 2 Academy under current proposals.
I thought this was around whether the lewisham council guy with the slightly unusual offshore company ownership links could force through compulsory acquisition of the land currently owned by the club, or not.
Compulsory purchase orders are not all that common and worth looking at the merits of in an open way.
The current proposal struggles on the smell test, it smells bad.
Any future proposal would be subject to the same tests, no matter who proposed it.
Just because a future proposal may be more rotten than the current rotten one does not mean the current one should be permitted.!

So how does Millwalls ability to run a category 2 academy come into it then?
And they don't own the land, they rent it from Lewisham Council.

Better yet, get them to piss off back the docks and play at Millwall Park
